“Jagbeeti” (1946) was produced by Din pictures and it was directed by M Sadiq. The movie had Sadiq Ali, Suraiya, Sulochana Chatterjee, Shakir, Himalayawala, Ibrahim, Gulam Hussain, Mohd.Hussain, Nalini, Shalini etc.
Here is the third Suraiyya solo from “Jagbeeti” (1946). Suraiyya’s name figures in the star cast of the movie and so it is clear taht the song was picturised on herself.
This movie had three lyricists, viz Nazim Panipati, Shams Lucknowi and Husaini, and it is not clear who wrote which song in the movie.
Though there were nine songs in the movie, only four songs (all Suraiyya solos) were recorded on two HMV records .The HMV records of the songs of this movie do not mention the names of lyricists.(This is as informed by our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh)
