“Shikaari” (1946) was directed by Savak V Vacha. The movie had Ashok Kumar, Paro, Leela Mishra, Rama Sukul, S L Puri, Kishore Kumar etc in it.
This movie is today remembered mainly for being one of the two debut movies of S D Burman as a music director-the other movie being “Aath Din” (1946).
Four songs from “Shikaari” (1946) have been discussed in the past. Here is the fifth song from the movie. It is sung by Shamshad Begam. Gopal Singh Nepali is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman.
Only the audio of this song is available. The lyrics by Gopal Sing Nepali express the feelings of a lady falling in love quite superbly.

Dear Atul ji and other learned listeners…. u may be aware that this film had had a tough time in reaching its desired end…as its music score by the music maestro – SD Burman – his first ever Hindi film – was not to the satisfaction of producer. When some of us met Anna Chitalkar ( in 1979-80) at his residence in Pune, it was revealed by him that the producer had approached him to intervene and complete the music part of it. (This does not in any way is intended to undermine or belittle the great SDB..).Anna told us that the credentials included his name ..something like ” music by SD Burman under the supervision of C Ramchandra.” This film however did not run well for several other reasons.
