“Shagun” (1951), also mentioned as “Shagan” in some sites, was directed by S Arora for Punjab Art Productions. This obscure movie had Sulochana Chatterji, Kamal Kapoor, Bhudo Advani, Ranjit Kumari, Wasti etc in it.
Here is the first song from “Shagun” (1951) to make it to the blog. This song is sung by Rafi. Mulkraj Bhakri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Husnlal Bhagatram.
Only the audio of this song is available.
Rafi excel sheet mentions that this song is picturised on Wasti. I am not sure because Wasti was no longer acting in leading roles by 1951. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.

Lyrics(Provided by Avinash Scrapwala)
Dam todte hain armaan
dam todte hain armaan
roti hain hasratein aen
iss dil ke veeraane mein
haaye
iss dil ke veerane mein
wo jalta hai shamaa par
main yoonhi jal rahaa hoon
hai farq sirf itnaa
mujh mein parwaane mein
haay
mujh mein parwaane mein
dam todte hain armaan
dam todte hain armaan
roti hain hasratein aen
iss dil ke veerane mein
haaye
iss dil ke veerane mein
duniya se kya shikaayat
aur unse gilaa kya
taqdeer meri raazi ee
ban ban ke bigadne mein
haay
ban ban ke bigadne mein
dam todte hain armaan
dam todte hain armaan
roti hain hasratein aen
iss dil ke veeraane mein
haaye
iss dil ke veerane mein
Hamne kasam nibhaa lee
par bewafa wo nikley
aankhon ne khaaya dhokha
haaye
dil ke lagaane mein
haaye
Iss dil ke lagaane mein
dam todtein hain armaan
dam todtein hain armaan
roti hain hasratein
is dil ke veerane mein
haaye
Is dil ke veerane mein
