About Jaidevji, Penaz wrote in an e-mail, on Jaidev’s anniversary in 2012. “I must admit, what I am today, whatever little I have achieved, is thanks to music director , Jaidevji, a wonderful human being, kind elevated soul, besides being a great music composer. Jaidevji introduced me to my guru Madhuraniji, and that was my introduction to the beautiful world of Gazals. THANK YOU for bringing Madhuji in my life. The time I have spent at Lily court (Jaidev-ji’s residence) where I used to go after college, and learn different compositions from Jaidevji was indeed so valuable.”

“You are truly missed Papaji, can’t believe 26 years have flown since you left for your
heavenly abode on 6th Jan 1986”

Song-Tumhaara Pyaar Shaamil Hai (Aayee Teri Yaad )(1980) Singer-Penaz Masani, Lyrics-Naqsh Layalpuri, MD-Jaidev

Lyrics

tumhaara pyaar shaamil hai
mere dil ki udaanon mein
tumhaara pyaar shaamil hai
mere dil ki udaanon mein
zameen par paaon hain mere
zameen par paaon hain mere
magar main aasmaanon mein
tumhaara pyaar

meri tasveer ko tumne sajaaya kitne rangon mein
meri tasveer ko tumne sajaaya kitne rangon mein
dhuli jabse tumhaare pyaar ki khushboo umangon mein
yoon mehke khwaab
yoon mehke khwaab jaise phool mehken gulsitaanon mein
tumhara pyaar

wafaa ko naaz hai tum par
wafaa ko naaz hai tum par
muhabbat muskuraati hai
tumhaari dhadkanon mein kho ke palkan gungunaati hai
yeh afsaana
yeh afsaana naya hoga
muhabbat ke fasaanon mein
tumhara pyaar shaamil hai
mere dil ki udaanon mein
tumhaara pyaar

main nanhe pyaar ki aankhon mein tumko dekh leti hoon
main nanhe pyaar ki aankhon mein tumko dekh leti hoon
tumhaare naam se jab bhi ise aawaaz deti hoon
kayee shehnaaiyaan
kayee shehnaaiyaan ik saath baj uthhti hain kaanon mein
tumhara pyaar shaamil hai
mere dil ki udaanon mein
zameen par paaon hain mere
zameen par paaon hain mere
magar main aasmaanon mein
tumhaara pyaar

Thank you so much, Bharat ji, for the post and the lovely song.
You have rightly pointed out the Urdu diction ‘talaffuz’ being a virtue of Peenaz Masani’s ghazal singing. I have attended many of her stage performances in Mumbai and she has always acknowledged the guidance ‘taleem’ received from her Guru Madhu Rani ji.
I will request you for more such write-ups, especially on Madhu Rani and Munni Begum, two excellent, but relatively not too much heard and lesser known, ghazal singers.
Thanks a lot to Atul ji too.
Warm regards,
Avadh Lal

Lily Court is near Churchgate where I met Jaidevji with my songs.
Peenaz with her ghunghrale baal is pixie, elf, fay, impish, elvish, petite. She has superb matured ghazal voice. She has infectious smile which spreads happiness around her
She sang in Hamari Bahu Alka, Salma, Gandhi to Hitler, Bhai Aakhir Bhai Hota Hai apart from those mentioned by PC
