Today (26 october 2014) is the 77th birth anniversary of Hridaynath Mangeshkar (DoB 26 october 1937). The only brother of the Mangeshkar sisters, he has been a singer/ composer in Hindi and Marathi movies.
Here is a song from “Prarthana”(1969) on this occasion. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hridaynath Mangeshkar.
This movie, which was directed by Vasant Joglekar for Panchdeep Chitra had Abhi Bhattacharya, Kanan Kaushal, Dhumal, Jankidas, Nana Palsikar, Rajnish, Aziz Mirza, Pratibha, Meena, Sumati Gupte etc in it. This movie also had another title namely “Gareebi Hataao”. Very little is known about this obscure movie.

This was a good movie. the hero of the movie was Rajneesh, who later became popular as an ace director Aziz Mirza!!

Neither heard of this song nor the film. Prakashchandraji is a good song archaeologist! Hats off!
Only knew the marathi original. A pity he mostly recycled his Marathi tunes for the Hindi songs. Love his score for Lekin.
