“Saugandh”(1942) was directed by Hem Chandra for New Theatres, Calcutta. The movie had Asit Baran, Bharati devi, Pahadi Sanyal, Chandravati, Suprabha Mukherji, Srilekha, Chhabi Biswas, Vinay Goswami, Khagen Pathak, Farooque Mirza, Dar Kashmiri, Nemo, Tulsi Chakraborty, Puttan, Narayan Rao, Maya Bose, Gopal Das, Kali Ghosh, Hira Bai, Natwar, Jawaharlal, Kaalo, Dwijen Sanyal etc in it.
Six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.
Here is the seventh song from the movie. This song, picturised on Bharati Devi, is sung by a female singer which I am not able to identify though I feel that I have heard her voice before. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify the singer. It is clear that the singer is not Shanti (credited in HFGK for two songs picturised on Bahrati Devi) because Shanti was just the screen name of Bharati devi in this movie and there were no singers called Shanti those days.
Pt Natwar is the lyricist. Music is composed by R C Boral.
I am not clear about a few words in the song. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ point out correct words wherever applicable.
