“Zindagi aur Maut”(1965) was produced and directed by N A Ansari for Bundelkhand Films, Bombay. The movie had Pradeep Kumar, Faryal(Introducing), Manmohan, Chandrima Bhaduri, N.A.Ansari, Anwar Hussein, Lalita Kumari, Champaklala, Devi Chand, Uma Dutt, Edwina, Ratan Gaurang, Khalil, Khanna, Kirti Kumar, Rajen Kapoor, Johnny Walker, Neelofar, Bela Bose, Nasreen, Murray, Lateef, Kabuli, Maqbool, Hazara Singh, Tansen, Sarang,Pradeep Sharma, Shukla, Champak etc in it.

Today (4 january 2015) is the 90th birth anniversary of actor Pradeep Kumar (4 january 1925- 27 october 2001). Pradeep Kumar, who made his acting debut in Hindi in 1952 in Anandmath played the lead role of Salim in “Anarkali”(1953). After that, he bacame typedcast in the characters of King/Prince/Zameendaar etc. 🙂 🙂 In addition to playing Salim, he played Shahjahaan as well (in Tajmahal(1963), as also a Royal of foreign origin in Yahudi Ki Ladki (1957).

When not playing such roles, Pradeep Kumar would play a shayar or police inspector or spy. 🙂

On the occasion of Pradeep Kumar’s birth anniversary, here is a song from “Zindagi Aur Maut”(1965) where Pradeep Kumar plays a spy who tends to wear red rose on his coat when he has to meet some important person. 🙂

This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Faryal who was making her debut in Hindi movies with this movie. Our intrepid spy is visible in the picturisation. Other who can also be seen include N A Ansari, and Johny Walker, among others.

It is difficult to imagine, but this cabarat song in penned by Shakeel Badayuni. And this music is composed by C Ramchandra

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Song-Zindagi aur maut donon ek hain (Zindagi aur Maut)(1965) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-C Ramchandra

Lyrics

zindagi aur maut donon ek hain
dil agar lagtaa na ho sansaar mein
zindagi aur maut donon ek hain
dil agar lagtaa na ho sansaar mein
zindagi aur maut donon ek hain

kya bharosa zindagi ke saaz ka
kya bharosa zindagi ke saaz ka
dil ke taaron ki haseen aawaaz ka
do ghadi ki aah bhi hai waah bhi
do ghadi ki aah bhi hai waah bhi
iss ke aagey kuchch nahin jhankaar mein
zindagi aur maut donon ek hain

har kisi dil mein khushi milti nahin
aayeene tootey bhi hote hain kahin
har kisi dil mein khushi milti nahin
aayeene tootey bhi hote hain kahin
dekhnewaalon nazar se kaam lo
phool bhi uljhe huye hain khaar mein
zindagi aur maut donon ek hain
dil agar lagtaa na ho sansaar mein
zindagi aur maut donon ek hain

shamma se poochhey koyee dil ki lagi
shamma se poochhey koyee dil ki lagi
kab jali thhi aur kaisey bujh gayee
gham ki manzil hain kathhin uske liye
gham ki manzil hain kathhin uske liye
jis ko khushiyan mil chuki hon pyar mein
zindagi aur maut donon ek hain
dil agar lagtaa na ho sansaar mein
zindagi aur maut donon ek hain

Actually its a philosophical song. Naushad would have metamorphosed it in a sad Rafi number and made it memorable
