Today (28 january 2015) is the 8th death anniversary of O P Nayyar (16 january 1926-328 january 2007). I am taking this opportunity to discuss some O P Nayyar compositions today.
These days I also discuss one song everyday which is the final song of the movie in the day. It would only be appropriate that I should discuss one such song from an O P Nayyar movie.
This song is from “Maai Baap”(1957). This movie was produced and directed by M Sadiq for Sahiq Productions, Bombay. The movie had Shyama, Balraj Sahni, Nazeer Hussain, Minu Mumtaz, Johny Walker, S N Bannerji, Raj Mehra, Sagar, Shakeel Nomani, Baby Leela etc in it.
This movie had Shyama and Balraj Sahni in lead roles. Johny Walker played the comical villain of the movie with Minu Mumtaz playing his moll. Johny Walker and Minu Mumtaz in fact got to sing more songs than the lead pair in the movie. 🙂 They sang two wonderful Rafi-Geeta Dutt duets in the movie. In addition, Johny Walker lip synced one Rafi solo too in the movie. I cannot recall any movie offhand where the villain of a movie has sung two duets and one solo in all. 🙂
In comparison, Shyama sings three songs. The hero, Balraj Sahni draws a blank as far as singing any songs is concerned.
Here is the sixth and final song from the movie. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist. Music is composed by O P Nayyar.
The song is sung by one singer but it is lip synced by two artists. One of them is Shyama. The other lady looks like Cuckoo to me but then Cuckoo’s name does not appear in the credits. I request our knowledgeable readers to help identify her.
With this song, “Maai Baap”(1957) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Lyrics
aa aa aaa
aa aa aaa
aaa aa aaa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
gaalon pe tere gori
ee ee ee ee
gaalon pe tere gori
rangat nayi nayi hai
gaalon pe tere gori
rangat nayi nayi hai
iska jawaab ye hai
chhahat nayi nayi hai
iska jawaab ye hai
ye baal kaale kaale
khushboo mein basne waale
kiski talaash mein hain
ye naag dasne waale
ye naag dasne waale
jis dilruba ki aayi
aa aa aa aa aa
jis dilruba ki aayi
shaamat nayi nayi hai
jis dilruba ki aayi
shaamat nayi nayi hai
gaalon pe tere gori ee
aankhon mein kya nasha hai
ye raaz to bata ja
beemaar e ishq apna
kuchh haal to suna jaa
kuchh haal to suna jaa
hai dard ye puraana
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
hai dard ye puraana
haalat nayi nayi hai
hai dard ye puraana
haalat nayi nayi hai
gaalon pe tere gori
ye kispe ho rahi hai
nazron se meharbaani
kiske liye sambhaali
ye phool si jawaani
ye phool si jawaani
jiski nazar mein gori
ee ee ee
ee ee ee
jiski nazar mein gori
ulfat nayi nayi hai
jiski nazar mein gori
ulfat nayi nayi hai
gaalon pe tere gori
