“Ambar”(1952) was produced by Seth Jagat Narayan and directed by Jayant Desai. The movie had Raj Kapoor and Nargis in lead roles. The movie also had Agha, Bipin Gupta, Ramesh Sinha, Nayampalli, Baby Tanuja, Samson, Vyas, Cuckoo, Helen etc in it.

The movie had ten songs in it. Nine songs from this movie have been discussed in the past.

Here is the tenth and final song from the movie. This song is sung by Lata. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ghulam Mohammad.

Only the audio of this song is available. From the lyrics, it appears that the song was picturised on Nargis. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

With this song, “Ambar”(1952) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Song-Dil deke sanam tumhen pachhtaaye (Ambar)(1952) Singer-Lata , Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Ghulam Mohammad

Lyrics

dil deke sanam tumhen
pachhtaaye hum
mil gaya gham hi gham aur khushi na mili
jahaan hum aur tum milke ho jaayen gum
wo mohabbat bhari zindagi na mili

dil ko naa haq mohabbat ka josh aa gaya
dil ko naa haq mohabbat ka josh aa gaya
josh aa gaya
bewafa tum ko paaya to
hosh aa gaya aa aa
hosh aa gaya
meri qismat mein thha haye andhera likha
chaand to mil gaya
chaandni na mili
dil deke sanam tumhen pachhtaaye hum
mil gaya gham hi gham aur khushi na mili

gham ke baadal hain is dil pe ae ae chhaaye huye
gham ke baadal hain is dil pe ae ae chhaaye huye
ae ae
chhaaye hue
meri aankhon mein aansoo hai aaye huye
aaye huye
mujhe dhokha diya mere dil ne ye kya
ashq to mil gaye aur hansee na mili
dil deke sanam tumhen pachhtaaye hum
mil gaya gham hi gham aur khushi na mili

Now this is called “haddi godaam se khod ke nikaalnaa”.. kudos. Atul pai.. (your CF posting issues have been shoved into Ankur.. should be fixed soon).. Vaise ye batao.. aap kidhar se ye sab dhoond ke laate ho? I mean some of the songs even I have never heard of and I think a) I am elder to you, b) I am in the entertainment industry even if just dipping my nose tip and c) I happen to know and appreciate music more than regular junta (err.. you know what I mean by that.. not demeaning anyone there).. Ye thoda keeda mere ko bhi do.

Excellent find pai.. kudos and salute.

Hindi Film Geet Kosh (HFGK) lists all the songs of all movies. One of my missions is to cover all songs of movies. When I looked in HFGK, I found that this movie had ten songs in it and nine of these songs were already covered. From HFGK, I found which was the missing song. Then I searched for this missing song, It was available in youtube.

There are occasions when such missing songs are not even available on youtube or even in internet. We upload these songs ourselves. We have some great music collectors associated with the blog who upload such rare songs.

@ Atul ji – Many thanks for this post.
There was a farmaish for this song in ‘farmiaish’ section from Shri.Suryakant Vora ji on 15.12.2012.
And I had also shared this song on 08.04.2013.
One more on the other side of the board 🙂

The song Dil de ke sanam tumhen pachhtaaye was apparently cut from the film. Someone has put a few cut songs from different films in a video clip on the Internet
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNCHfAJgLDE&index=35&list=RDKNCHfAJgLDE
It shows that the song is picturised on Nargis.

By the way, the full movie is available on YouTube. The titles do not show Helen and I don’t think Helen is in the film अंबर in any song.
I think Helen first came as a chorus girl in Aawaara. You can distinctly see her in मयूरपंख (I saw the film in 1954-55) as a blind beggar’s daughter singing a beautiful song मोहोबतकी दास्ता आज सुनो ये in front of Taj Mahal (no dance). The song has been discussed in this forum. Here is the link to that song.
