“Amar Kahaani”(1949) was produced by Rajendra Singh and directed by Brij Sharma for Kamal Kunj Chitra production. The movie had Suraiyya, Rajnana, P Jairaj, Jagdish Mehta, Raj Mehra, Sapru, Ajit etc.
The same movie was re re-released in 1955 with a new name, viz “Kanchan”(1955). Everything, including all the songs, remained the same. Even the fate of this re released move remained the same as the originally released movie, viz the movie sank without trace. The print of this movie is not available, but the nine songs of the movie are available. Some “knowledgeable” enthusiasts count the songs of the two two movies as different songs whereas in reality there is no difference. These nine songs were recorded only once, viz during the release of “Amar Kahaani”(1949). Since “Kanchan” (1955) was nothing but “Amar Kahaani”(1949) with a new name, everything, including the songs there remained the same.
Though the prints of this movie no longer exists, Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia had watched the movie when it was released under the name of “Kanchan”(1955). Here is the story of the movie as recounted by him in his comment in an earlier song from the movie:
The story was,Kanchan(Suraiyya) looks forward to marrying her lover Surendra(Jairaj)a lawyer, but his father(Raj Mehra) has promissed his marriage to Nirmala(Ranjana)-his friend Manoharlal’s son.
The marriage takes place.Kanchan’s brother is accused of murder,so Kanchan keeps going to Surendra for legel advise, which creates doubt and envy in Nirmalas mind. Instigated by her manager Virendra(Ajit), Nirmala attempts Kanchan’s murder, but she survives injured.
Nirmala is arrested and suffers sorrow, pain and misery….etc.
note- In the end Surendra and Kanchan get married.
Eight songs from the movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the ninth and final song from the movie. This song is sung by Geeta Dutt. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Husnlal Bhagatram.
Only the audio of this song is available. From the story mentioned above, one can guess that this song was picturised on Ranjana.
With this song, Amar Kahaani(1949)/Kanchan(1955) join the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.
Song-Mil gaye tum jab hamen(Amar Kahaani)(1949) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Husnlal Bhagatram
Lyrics
Mil gaye tum
jab hamen
saara zamaana mil gaya aa
mere armaanon ko
hansne ka
o bahana mil gaya aa
Mil gaye tum
jab hamen
saara zamaana mil gaya aa
zindagi soya hua ik geet thhi ee ee
jab tum na thhe
haan jab tum na thhe
zindagi soya hua ik geet thhi ee ee
jab tum na thhe
haan jab tum na thhe
aa gaye tum
zindagi ko
ik taraana mil gaya aa
aa gaye tum
zindagi ko
ik taraana mil gaya aa
Mil gaye tum
jab hamen
saara zamaana mil gaya aa
ik din wo bhi thha aa
jab saahil se kashti door thhi
ik din wo bhi thha aa
jab saahil se kashti door thhi
jab saahil se kashti door thhi
mil gaye tum
mil kashti ko
thhikaana mila gaya aa
mil gaye tum
mil kashti ko
thhikaana mila gaya aa
Mil gaye tum
jab hamen
saara zamaana mil gaya aa
mil gaye tum
jab hamen
saara zamaana mil gaya
