Looking back to the last two posted Noorjehan’s song, I feel sorry for HER that she does not have any ‘fans’ left now. With not a single comment there I could hear her painful calling her ‘fans’ “Aawaz de kahan hai?” I know the minority who liked ‘melodious and heart-touching songs, is on the verge of being ‘extinct’….. but so soon?
Any way following Geeta, (not the person but the scripture) I should continue ….. (Maa faleshu kadaachana …)
The song under discussion is a joyful song about the travel on the old time smoking train (another extinct object!) Moti’s voice is heard singing solo, duet and brief joyful ‘aalaaps’.
Searching for this obscure and rare song, I was surprized that it was posted on YouTube by none other than OUR young Vidur Suri-ji. Since the posting had few abrupt cuts and repeated stanzas, I who had done ‘editing’ all my life could not but stop myself to do the same to this lilting song. Before re-posting it on YouTube, I requested Vidur-ji’s permission, and promptly it was granted very gracefully.
But before I could make a move to upload the edited version, Atul-ji sent me two parts of the same song. So I re-edited it and uploaded the version on YouTube. Then while writing down the lyrics I discovered that one stanza in Vidur-ji’s video is not covered. So I re-re-edited the song adding that stanza, in spite of pitch difference. Again I uploaded it on YouTube and now here you are!! (I enjoyed doing this drill repeatedly, as that is the only thing I do these days for my enjoyment)
Shame on me that even I, (who proudly had announced myself as an authority on Indian Noorjehan’s songs) was unable to decipher certain words in the second antaraa. Will somebody provide the needed help?
If you have seen (even in films or videos) this almost extinct smoke-blowing train, you would, while listening to this song, experience the thrill of the peculiar ‘chhuk chhuk’ noise along with the vision of hills and valleys full of flowering shrubs.

‘ Manaazir ‘ kahin aise dekhe nahin
Manzaazir – plural of ‘manzar’ meaning scene .

The correct word should be “dhuaan ye udaati chali” and NOT dhuaanyen
