“Street Singer” (1938) was directed by Phani Majumdar for New Theatres. The movie brought together K L Saigal and Kanan Devi together for the first time. This movie had thirteeen songs in it. As many as ten songs from this movie have been covered in the blog.
The remaining three songs are rare songs and their details are not available. Two of these remaining three songs are available as far as I can tell. So we will be able to post 12 out of 13 songs from this movie unless the final song (song number 1 in HFGK) viz: “ham isko pyaare ye hamko pyaara ki raaste ka gubaar ham hai” also gets discovered.
Here is the eleventh song from “Street Singer”(1938). this song is barely 45 seconds long (It may have been a longer song but only this lenght is available. The audio quality is poor and it is extremely difficult to make out words in the song. I have been unsuccessful in deciphering most words in the song. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks (there are lots of them) as well as suggest corrections in the lyrics wherever applicable.
No details are available for this song. Singer’s name is not known. In any case the song appears to be sung by chorus.
Is is clear that Aarzoo Lucknowi is the lyricist and music is composed by R C Boral.
