“Abhilaasha”(1968) was directed by Amit Bose for R D Productions. The movie had Meena Kumari, Nanda, Sanjay Khan, Sulochana, Agha, Mohan Choti, Jagdish Raaj, Murad, Rehman, Harindranath Chattopadhyay, Kashinath etc in it.
There were six songs in it including one pair of multiple version song according to HFGK. But the previous song that was discussed, which is a single version song according to HFGK, has been picturised twice in thhe movie and these two parts have different lyrics, so this song too appears to be fit to be considered as another pair of multiple version song.
With two pairs of multiple version songs in the movie, the total number of song count in the movie adds up to 7. Six of these songs have already been discussed in the blog.
Here is the seventh and final song from the movie. It is one song that is the least known of all the songs of this movie and that makes it a hidden and forgotten gem.
This song is sung by Manna Dey, Bhupinder Singh, another uncredited male voice that sings a line thrice in the song (in what appears like Portuguese/ Goan/ Konkani to me). The song is picturised as a bar dance song, where the dancers are not females but male comedians like Agha, Mohan Choti, Polson etc. The distaff side is represented by Tuntun in the picturisation.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by R D Burman.
I have been quite unsatisfied with my effort at noting down the lyrics of this song. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections in the lyrics of the song as applicable.
With this song, “Abhilaasha”(1968) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

The unidentified male singer is Maruti which is mentioned in ‘saregama’ cover. This Maruti is none other than Maruti Rao Keer, R D Burman’s Rhythm Specialist.
