Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Naacho Naacho Mere Dil Bahaar Aa Gai

This article is written by Sadanand Kamath, a fellow enthusiast of Hindi movie music and a regular contributor to this blog. This article is meant to be posted in atulsongaday.me. I joined the Blog sometime in July 2011 and I have completed 5 years of my association with the Blog. How the wheel of time passes so quickly!  Atul ji, the founder of this Blog, must have also felt the same when he realised that this Blog would be completing its 3000th day today (4th October 2016).

Congratulations to Atul ji and his bandwagon for reaching another milestone of running this Blog for 3000 days. I had said in my couple of earlier write-ups as well as in the comments section in the Blog that it is not an easy task to run a Blog with a commitment to discuss at least one song per day.  It is most gratifying to note during my 5 years of association with the Blog that Atul ji has almost adhered to that commitment. If one goes by the daily average of the postings of the songs, the Blog has attained over 4 songs per day.  This is a unique Blog in the sense that it has not remained ‘dormant’ even for a day!

One of the main features of the Blog which is close to my heart is honouring the artists associated with the songs – especially, playback singers, lyricists, music directors, actors – on their birthdays and anniversaries and also on their ‘centuries’ on the Blog. Many amongst them lived in near obscurity despite their talents. This Blog is one of the rare places where such ‘unsung heroes’ are remembered and efforts have been made to present the chronicle of their lives and filmy career to the extent possible in the Blog.

Three important statistics which are unique to the Blog are (i) the number of songs covered in the Blog at 12421 (as of this post), (ii) films with all songs covered numbering 815 and (iii) the total number of films covered in the Blog which stand at 3479. It can be surely said that no other blogs concerning Hindi film and non-film songs exists with these numbers. Of course, there are many more milestones to follow in the days to come.

On the occasion of 3000th day of the Blog, I am presenting a rare song ‘Naacho Nacho Mere Dil Bahaar Aa Gayi’ sung by Dilshad Begum. The song is from the film ‘Ek Roz’ (1947). The song is written by Saarshaar Sailaani and it is set to music by Shyam Sundar. This is a rare song in the sense that it was not available on YT until I uploaded the video made from mp3 clip of the song about 2 months back.

The film was produced under the banner of Gupta Art Productions, Bombay and was directed by Dawood Chand. The star cast includes Al Nasir, Nasreen, Saleem Raza, Asha Posley, Shamlal, Nafees Begum, Azmal etc. There were 9 songs in the film, all penned by Sarshaar Sailaani of which 4 songs have been covered in the Blog.

I present this joie de vivre song as it is apt for the occasion. Moreover, I like two verses in the song which I relate to our Blog:

band gumche gulistaan mein khilne lagey
phool hans hans ke bhanwron se milne lagey

Our Blog is a ‘gulistaan’ (flower garden) in which ‘band gumche’ (closed flower buds) in the form of rare songs also find place. Soon they blossom and attract ‘bhanware’ (bees) in the form of visitors to the Blog. In our ‘gulistaan’, there are over 12400 ‘blossomed flowers’ which have attracted nearly 85 lakhs ‘bhanware’ in 3000 days. In other words, on an average over 2800 ‘bhanware’ visited our ‘gulistaan’ every day.

Enjoy this song of the 3000th day of the Blog.

Song – Naacho Naacho Mere Dil Bahaar Aa Gai (Ek Roz) (1947) Singers – Dilshad Begum, Lyrics – Saarshaar Sailaani, MD – Shyam Sundar

Lyrics

naacho naacho
naacho
naacho naacho
mere dil bahaar aa gayi
naacho naacho
naacho
naacho naacho
mere dil bahaar aa gayi
naacho naacho

band gumche gulistaan mein khilne lage
bandh gumche gulistaan mein khilne lage
phool hans hans ke
phool hans hans ke bhanwaron se milne lage
phool hans hans ke bhanwaron se milne lage
har kali
aa haa haa
har kali muskura ke ye samajha gayi
naacho naacho
naacho
naacho naacho
mere dil bahaar aa gayi
naacho naacho

dil ne bachpan ki manzil ko tai kar liya
dil ne bachpan ki manzil ko tai kar liya
apna daaman
apna daaman tamannaaon se bhar liya
apna daaman tamannaaon se bhar liya
meri shaada nazar
meri shaada nazar ghoom ke sharma gayi
naacho naacho
naacho
naacho naacho
mere dil bahaar aa gayi
naacho naacho

aa gaye
jhoomne
muskuraane ke din
aa gaye
jhoomne
muskuraane ke din
naachne
koodne
geet gaane ke din
har tamanna
aa haa haa
har tamanna jawaani ko tadapaa gayi
har tamanna jawaani ko tadapaa gayi
naacho naacho
naacho
naacho naacho
mere dil bahaar aa gayi
naacho naacho

Wah Sadanand-ji, Main yeh gana sun ke naachne laga, (forgetting my broken spine !!!) I love old rare songs and Shyam Sundar is one of my favorite vintage MDs. My khajana is enriched by this Dilshad’s song. Thanks.

What a fantastic analogy, Sadanandji! Just brilliant!

An excellent and extremely rare song.
Dilshad Begum’s voice is very sweet and lovely music by Shyam Sundar, as usual.
Thank you very much, Kamath Saheb for a Baakamaal post.
And I share the sentiments so well expressed by Raja ji about your fantastic analogy.
Warm regards,
Avadh Lal

@ Kamath Sir , thanks for this post and thanks for this song too. And a very big thanks for uploading the rare gems from the 40s for our listening pleasure.
As mentioned by Raja ji and Avadh ji I too liked the ‘analogy’ mentioned by you for the rare gems. I am also one of the ‘bhanwaras’ enjoying the songs, which are not from my era and some are from when I was not even born.
Thanks for all the ‘joy’ you have shared with us and thanks for those special musical moments full of nostalgia.
