“Hamjoli”(1946) was directed by Ismail Memon and Lukman Ahmad for K Abdulla Productions, Bombay. The movie had Noorjahaan, Jairaj, Ghulam Mohammad (actor), Jillobai, Mukri, Jeenat, Shabnam Hussain, Majid, Agha Jaan etc in it.

There were ten songs in the movie. as many as seven of these songs have been covered in the blog.

Here is the eighth song from “Hamjoli”(1946) to appear in the blog. This rare song is sung by Mehboob according to HFGK, Our own Mr Bahrat Upadhyay opines (while discussing the previous song from this movie) that this was Mehboob Khan, the famous director. I request our knowledgeable readers to tell us whether this Mehboob is indeed that director or some other person. In any case, this singer makes his debut in the blog with this song.

Anjum Pilibhiti is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hafiz Khan.

I EAT BACK my opinion, expressed in earlier discussion. Generally voice has no religion but after listening to the song, I feel now, that this is a NON-MUSLIM voice. The pronunciations does not have the flavor of Muslim voice.
Any body agrees?

You tube attributes this song to Khan Mastana, that also I do not agree, as I am a fan of K Mastana and have many songs in my Khajana.

Atul ji,

It simply can not be film Director Mehboob Khan, because by 1946 he had already become a big man, owner of a studio and a recognised director/producer. Moreover he NEVER sang anything. He never had a singing background or liking.
Mehboob the singer was an assistant to Hafiz khan. Both Hafiz khan as a Sarangi player and Mehboob as a Harmonium player and singer were performing in Heera mandi of Lahore. When Hafiz khan graduated to Music director he helped his friend Mehboob by employing him and giving him chance to sing few songs.
Mehboob’s singing career ended with these songs.
