“Suleh”(1944), an extremely rare and obscure movie by now, was directed by Apoorv Mitra for Chitraroopa Limited, Bombay. Though a Bombay based production, most people associated with this movie were Calcutta based. The movie had Jamuna Devi, Ahindra Chaudhary, Biman Bannerji, Devbala, Tandon, Hiralal, Natwar, Ranjeet Roy, Bipin Gupta, Tulsi Chakraborty, Mrinal Kanti, Harimohan, Manorama etc in it.
There were eight songs in the movie. Here is the first of these obscure songs from “Suleh”(1944) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Anima Sengupta. Lyrics are by Narottam Vyas. Music is composed by Anil Bagchi.
