“Lavangi”(1950), also known as “Jagannath Pandit”(1950), was directed by Y V Rao for Shree Jagdish Films, Madras. This “historical” movie had Rao, Rukmini, Ramesh Tiwari, Sushil, Madan Tandan, Swami, R P Mishra, Maya Bose, Leela Bai, Shanta Devi etc in it.
This obscure movie had more than ten obscure songs in it. Details are available only for ten songs.
Here is the first song from “Lavangi”(1950) to appear in the blog. HFGK mentions this song as sung by Geeta Dutt. I can detect a few more voices apart from chorus, but who knows, may be Geeta Dutt herself may have sung in different voices in this song.
Saraswai Kumar Deepak is the lyricist. This movie had two music directors, Bulo C Rani and C S Ram. Distribution of songs among the two is not known. Nevertheless, I have assumed that this song was composed by Bulo C Rani.
With this rare song, “Lavangi”(1950) makes its debut in the blog.
