“Golkunda Ka Qaidi”(1954) was produced and dircted by actor Premnath for his P N Films, Bombay. The movie had Premnath, Bina Rai, Agha, Shobhana samarth, Hiralal, Michaeel shea, Armelene, Shambhunath, Kalandar Khan, M Ilyas, Iqbal, Hiru, Indumati, Madan Bhandari, Rajan Kapoor, Premnath (junior), Cuckkoo, Rajendranath, with guest appearances by Omprakash, Bipin Gupta and Sundar.
This historical movie had eight songs in it that were composed by three music directors, who supposedly composed the songs in combinations.
Here is the first song from “Golkunda Ka Qaidi”(1954) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Geeta Dutt.
The movie had three lyricists. This song is penned by Prakash Sathi, who makes his debut in the blog as a lyricist with this song. Anjaan and Kaif Irfani were the other lyricists in this movie.
This song is composed by Datta Davjekar and Jagannaath as mentioned in the record label, but HFGK also quotes Datta Davjekar (one of the three music directors, the third being Kundan lal) as stating that he alone had composed all the songs.
Only the audio of this song is available. The songs of the movie were sung by four female singers. Other three being Shamshad Begam, Madhubala Jhaweri and Sudha Malhotra being the others. So one cannot just make a guess that this song was picturised on Bina Rai, the leading lady.
