“Sheesham”(1952) was produced by Ram Idnani and directed by Kishore Sharma for Anil Pictures Corporation, Bombay. The movie had Nutan, Nasir Khan, Kuldeep, Gope, Gulab, Kamal, Cuckoo, Gulnar, Anjum, Ramlal, Uma Dutt, Abu Bakr, Kathana, Indu etc in it.
The movie had ten songs in it, which included some great fun songs in it.

Today (14 april 2017) is the 98th birth anniversary of Shamshad Begam (14 April 1919 – 23 April 2013).
Shamshad Begam, one of the senior most female playback singers in HFM, sang just under 1300 songs in HFM. We in this blog have 553 of her songs. Most of her well known songs are also represented in the blog. We in fact have many of her lesser known and even obscure songs as well in the blog.
On the occasion of Shamshad Begam’s birth anniversary, here is a fun song from “Sheesham”(1952). This song is sung by Shamshad Begam. Madhukar Rajasthani is the lyricist. Music is composed by Roshan.
In Hindi movies, “aankhen”, viz “nazren” have been likened to lots of things viz. they can shed “neer” (water) , launch “teer”(arrow), and are also used to issue “ishaare”(gestures). “Nazren” also tend to meet, followed by getting lowered.
Here is a song where “nazren” are compared with pickpockets. 🙂 “My eyes are pickpockets, safeguard your pockets (your heart)”- is the message to owners of (rather unprotected) “dil” in this song.
