“Galat Fahmi”(1949) was Pancholi Studio, Bombay Production. HFGK is silent about the makers of this movie as well as about the artists in the movie. According to the uploader of songs of this movie, the movie had Asha Posle and Nazar in it.
HFGK gives details of eight songs and indicated that there were other songs in it as well whose details are not known.
This movie was also released in Pakistan as “Miss 1949”.
It seems that this movie was a movie that came up at the wrong time and suffered as it was caught among major events like Partition of the country and also sudden change in musical tastes (viz onset of the golden era of HFM in the same year), to name just two major developments that affected the fate of this movie.
A few songs from this movie are available. They are great songs in their own respect and they would have gone on to become all time hits if they had come in another time instead of 1949. I liked some of the female solos so much that I have held them back to be discussed on some special occasions.
For now, here is a light hearted song from “Galat Fahmi”(1949) whilch is sung by Nazar Hussain. Arsh Lucknowi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Inayat Ali.
Lyrics are quite amusing. I have not been able to get a few words right. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections as applicable.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
with this song, “Galat Fahmi”(1949) makes its debut in the blog . Nazar Hussain and Arsh Lucknowi too make their debuts in the blog with this song.
Song-Koi majnoo se keh de (Galat Fahmi)(1949) Singer-Nazar Hussain, Lyrics-Arsh Lucknowi, MD-Inayat Ali
Lyrics
Koi majnoo se keh de
tera jodidaar baithha hai
hai ae ae
teri jaanaat(??) ban kar
haan
teri jaanaat(??) ban kar
aaj pehredaar baithha hai
aaj pehredaar baithha hai
koi majnoo se keh de
muhabbat ki sadak par
bach ke kyaa jaaogi tum ham se
sun liya
muhabbat ki sadak par
bach ke kyaa jaaogi tum ham se
ae ae ae ae ae ae
tera aashiq meri jaan haan haan
tera aashiq meri jaan
le ke motor car
car baithha hai
tera aashiq meri jaan
le ke motor car
car baithha hai
koi majnoo se keh de
ye hotel hai bataao
balle balle
ya mohabbat ka shifaakhaana
ye hotel hai bataao
ya mohabbat ka shifaakhaana
haan aan aan aan aan aan
yahaan baithha hai jo bhi haan
yahaan baithha hai jo bhi
ishq ka beemaar baithha hai
ishq ka beemaar baithha hai
Koi majnoo se keh de
teri furqat mein daudaayenge
ab ham ishq ka ghoda
aa aa aa aa aa aa
zara dekho to kis number
zara dekho to dus number
pe barkhurdaar baithha hai
haan barkhurdaar baithha hai
Koi majnoo se keh de
tera jodidaar baithha hai
tera jodidaar baithha hai
?? ban kar

Also, the line which you were uncertain about in writing out the lyrics is “dar-e-jaanaat ban kar,” not “teri jaanaat ban kar.”

This link has some information on the original Pancholi Film Studio in Lahore: http://pakfilms.net/movies/history.php?pid=1
It doesn’t mention this film, though, but this other link does: http://www.filmmania.com.pk/ghalt-fehmi/

GALAT FAHMI a.k.a. MISS 1949 (1949) was a Pakistani film. It somehow got included in the Hindi Film Geet Kosh. More than likely, the song was picturized upon Nazar Hussain himself. In between the Pakistani flags in the image, it has the film title as well as Asha Posley and Nazar’s names.
