26th October is an important date for our blog. It has 2 birthdays. One is our very own Rajababu another is the female actor of the 90s Raveena Tandon. For me it is important as on this day my lil sister was born all those years ago. (I still feel of my sisters as little sisters even though the eldest child of my younger sis is in her first year of college this year, and the twins of my other sister are in class 4).
Raveena Tandon is one of the actors of the 90s who used to look good and had decent acting abilities. She has donned many caps over the years including that of an adopted mother. I mean she had adopted two girl children in 1995 when they were barely 11 and 8. She also was a model before she got to acting in films. She is the daughter of filmmaker Ravi Tandon (maker of Majboor, Khel Khel Mein etc). She made a successful pair with Govinda, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan etc. She also managed – with reasonable success- a few serious movies like Daman; Satta; Aks; Shool etc. She was comfortable dancing.
She has won a National Award for her role of a victim of marital violence in Kalpana Lajmi’s “Daman”. She also got the filmfare award for a debutant in Patthar Ke Phool (1991). I have chosen a song from her debut film Patthar Ke Phool which was directed by Anant Balani and produced by G.P.Sippy. The music was by Ram Laxman. The lyrics for this song are by Rawinder Rawal. Play back is by S.P.Balasubramaniam and Lata Mangeshkar. The movie had a vey simple star cast of Vinod Mehra (hero’s honest police officer father), Reema Lagoo (hero’s mother), Manohar Singh (heroine’s gangster father), Kiran Kumar, with Salman Khan and Raveena being the young couple. Going by what I have written in the brackets along with the actors playing the seniors we have a fair idea about the content of the movie.
So here is a happy birthday to Raveena Tandon on her 43rd birthday.

hullo Atulji
after sending you this post i did some research on road names in old mumbai. i found that “kabhi berey road” should read ‘kabhi perry road’ this is in old bandra area close to Pali Hill.
“dunkin road” was ‘Duncan Road’ before name changed to “Maulana Azad road” in Girgaon area .
please do the spelling corrections in the song
