“Chaar Meenaar”(1956) was directed by Ravindra Dave for Nagina Films, Bombay. The movie had Nasir Khan, Jabeen, Bhagwan, Renu Makad, Anjali Devi, Nazi, Altaf, Gyani, S K Prem, Ramesh Sinha, Rasheed Khan, Narbada Shankar, Helen, Sadiq etc in it.
One song from this movie has been covered in the past. That article was by Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, our beloved inhouse encyclopaedia. Then a resident of Hyderabad, he, alongwith fellow Hyderabadis, went to the movie hall with great enthusiasm. But all of them were in for a rude shock when they realised that this movie had nothing to do with “Chaar Meenaar”, the famous landmark of Hyderabad. 🙂 That reminded me of my experiences with our Engineering institute library where one would find books on radio activity on the shelf marked “books on radio”. 🙂
The songs of this movie had nothing to with “Chaar Meenaar” either. The songs were good to listen to, though they have become obscure songs by now.
Here is the second song from “Chaar Meenaar”(1956) to aappear in the blog. This song is sung by Geeta Dutt. Vishwamitra Adil is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sardul Kwatra.
Only the audio of this song is available. It sounds like a club dance song picturised on Helen, but I cannot be sure. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.
Song-Mausam jawaan hai sab kuchh yahaan hai (Chaar Meenaar)(1956) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Vishwamitra Adil, Sardul Kwatra
Lyrics
mausam jawaan hai
sab kuchh yahaan hai
masti mein jhoom jhoom le
nazron se choom choom le
rut meharbaan hai
tera dil kahaan hai
masti mein jhoom jhoom le
nazron se choom choom le
mausam jawaan hai
dil dil dil mera dil hai tera
mil mil mil piya hamse zara
dil dil dil mera dil hai tera
mil mil mil piya hamse zara
nakhre na kar bhole bhale dilbar
meri tujhse ladi hai nazar
mausam jawaan hai
sab kuchh yahaan hai
masti mein jhoom jhoom le
nazron se choom choom le
mausam jawaan hai
sun sun sun tere bin main jali
chun chun chun piya pyaar ki kali
sun sun sun tere bin main jali
chun chun chun piya pyaar ki kali
nikle hai dam tum bin o sanam
main hoon phool aur tu shabnam
rut meharbaan hai
tera dil kahaan hai
masti mein jhoom jhoom le
nazron se choom choom le
mausam jawaan hai
ruk ruk ruk piya jaaye hai kidhar
jhuk jhuk jhuk gayi kaahe ko nazar
ruk ruk ruk piya jaaye hai kidhar
jhuk jhuk jhuk gayi kaahe ko nazar
kisi ka na ban
pyaare apna to ban
yahi kehti hai dil ki lagan
mausam jawaan hai
sab kuchh yahaan hain
masti me jhoom jhoom le
nazron se choom choom le
rut meharbaan hai
tera dil kahaan hai
masti mein jhoom jhoom le
nazron se choom choom le
mausam jawaan hai

Not so obscure. Radio Ceylon (Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, to give its official name which I detest) plays in the purane filmon ke geeton programme once in a while).
