“Baanoo”(1949) was directed by C M Amla for Marina Pictures, Bombay. This obscure “social” movie had Maya devi, Amar, Sheriff, Leela Kumari, Basu, Vaskar, Gulzar, Gulzar (junior), Anil, Suren Kumar, Mirza Sheriff, Agha, Shanti Madhok etc in it.
The movie had ten songs in it. One song has been covered in the past.
Here is the second song from “Baanoo”(1949) to appear in the blog. Singers of this movie are not mentioned in HFGK. But listening to this song leaves no doubt in mind that this song is sung by Rafi.
There were two lyricists in the movie viz Kamil Rashid and Nizami but distribution of songs among the two is not known.
Music is composed by Pram Prasad, aka Ram Prasah Sharma, who was the father of music directors Pyarelal and Ganesh.

The style of singing, as most of you will be knowing, is called “Heer”. This style was popularized by Mehdi Hassan and others.
