Regulars on the blog must be remembering my love for the ‘Qawwalis’. I am great fan of ‘Qawwalis’. And when you come across a ‘Qawwali’ like this that is being presented in this post the ‘joy’ cannot be expressed in words.
This ‘qawwali’ is a song of ‘divine delight’ in the praise of the almighty. The verse by Pandit Indra takes this song to an altogether different level.
So, here I present a ‘Qawwali’ from the movie ‘Pehli Pehchaan-1947’.
‘Pehli Pehchaan-1947’ was directed by Raman B. Desai ‘Super Pictures’. It was a ‘social movie’.
It had Rajrani, Nihal, Geeta Desai, Nazeera, Ahmed, Maruti, Ahmed Dilawar, Shyam, Ibrahim, A.M. Saiyyad, Popatlal, Ismat Sultana, Seeta Devi, Bashir, Bab Anwari, Afghan Sando and others.
‘Pehli Pehchaan-1947’ has ten songs in it which were all written by Pandit Indra. However the music for this movie was shared by two music-composers viz. Bulo C. Rani and Hansraj Behl.
HFGK Vol-II (1941-1950) mentions Bulo C. Rani as the composer for three songs and Hansraj Behl for two songs. It is mentioned in the foot note that Hansraj Bahl confirms composing music for two more songs in the movie.
That makes total three songs for Bulo. C. Rani and four songs for Hansraj Behl. Composer is not known for the remaining three songs.
Today’s song is one such song where the composer name for the individual song is not mentioned in HFGK.
The singer for today’s song is M. Farooqui (I guess it M.H. Farooqui).
