Blog Day :

5876 Post No. : 18454

This blog started on the first day of shrawan (which fell on 19 july 2008) and that month of shrawan ended on 16 august 2008. Last day of the month of Shrawan which happens to be shrawan purnima is celebrated as the festival of Rakhi.

In other words, the blog started on the first day of shrawan and it had its first rakhi festival day exactly on the last date of that month.

All this was without any planning at the human level. It was destiny ordaining all these without the knowledge of us mortals. I have discovered this fact only now, 16 years later, as I took up the task of penning an article for this year’s rakhi festival.

It must be said that destiny had protected the blog like how brothers vow to protect their sisters on the day of Rakhi. Surviving 16 years (5876 days) on internet despite all the challenges over the years means that someone higher up was protecting us all these days.

The first Rakhi festival day (16 August 2008) was an important day for the blog. On that day, iconic Rakhi festival song Bhaiyya mere raakhi ke bandhan ko nibhaana(Chhoti Bahan)(1959) was covered in the blog. The blog which used to get less than 100 visitors daily crossed 100 visitors on that day. As many as 297 visitors visited this fledgling blog on that day !

As many as 26 Rakhi festival songs have been covered in the blog over the years. All well known Rakhi songs have been covered so far. That leaves us with less known/ unknown rakhi festival songs or brother/ sister songs that can be covered on this occasion.

Here is a brother-sister song from “Dard e Dil”(1953). This movie was produced and directed by Nitin Bose. The movie had Premnath, Nimmi, Nawab Mazhar, Murad, Ratan Kumar, Sultan, Meenaxi Shirodkar, Sriram etc in it.

“Dard e Dil”(1953) had six songs in it. Two songs have been covered in the blog so far.

On the occasion of Rakhi, here is this song from the movie. This song is sung by Lata Mangeshkar. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is comnposed by R C Boral.

Only audio of this rare song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Our greetings to all music lovers on this auspicious occasion.

Song-Mera bhaiyya bada hi pyaara (Dard e Dil)(1953) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-R C Boral

Lyrics

mera bhaiyya bada hi pyaara
dilon ka chaand nazar ka taara
taara taara taara, taara
mera bhaiyya bada hi pyaara
dilon ka chaand
nazar ka taara
taara taara taara taara

mere bhaiyya ki umar hazaari
bal bal jaaun main balhaari
mere bhaiyya ki umar hazaari
bal bal jaaun main balhaari
jug jug jiye jiye
jug jug jiye jiye
pyaara pyaara pyaara pyaara
mera bhaiyya bada hi pyaara
dilon ka chaand nazar ka taara
taara taara taara taara

ammi ko apni raaj karaayega
bahna ko apni taaj pahnaayega
ammi ko apni raaj karaayega
bahna ko apni taaj pahnaayega
pa lega punva
pa lega punva
saara saara saara saara
mera bhaiyya bada hi pyaara
dilon ka chaand nazar ka taara
taara taara taara taara

apne bhaiyya ke baandhoongi kangna
laayega dulhan wo apne angna
apne bhaiyya ke baandhoongi kangna
laayega dulhan wo apne angna
maine bhaiyya pe
maine bhaiyya pe dil
haara haara haara haara
mera bhaiyya bada hi pyaara
dilon ka chaand nazar ka taara
taara taara taara taara
mera bhaiyya aa aa
