“Ek Nayaa Rishtaa-1988” was directed by Vinod Pande for ‘Cine Images, Bombay’. Vinod Pande was also the producer of this movie. This movie has Rekha, Raj Kiran, Mazhar Khan, Om Shivpuri, Urmila Bhatt, Yunus Parvez, Anjan Shrivastava, Helena Luke, Pooja Saxena, Vinod Pande, Nalini, Rabia Amin, Asha Sharma, Raj Kishore, C.S. Dubey, Surinder Pal, Nitin Sethi, Monto, Vikas Anand, Surendra Gupta, Sunil Dhawan, Dinesh Kaushik, Segma, Suhail Khan, Manisha Parikh, Satish Kaushik, Manmauji, Brij Gopal, Uma Khosla, Moolchand, Mahapatra, Reshma, Neelu Arora and others. Marc Zuber made a guest appearance in this movie.

Rajiv (Raj Kiran), the only son of an industrialist father (Om Shivpuri), is a spoilt brat and womaniser. He is not interested in a permanent relationship with a woman in his life by way of marriage. Rajiv’s father suddenly dies. As per his father’s will, Rajiv requires to have a child born to him within 18 months after the death of his father to get his large pool of assets bequeathed to him. Since Rajiv has no interest in marriage, he finds a call girl, Aarti (Rekha) who is ready to become the mother to his child out of wedlock. After the child is born, she has to leave him. During her temporary companionship, Raj Kiran provides her with all the luxuries of life including well-furnished sea-facing bungalow with servants and the chauffeur-driven car. The ‘contractual’ relationship slowly turns into a serious one for both Raj Kiran and Rekha without the knowledge of each other during her pregnancy. Eventually, the ‘contractual’ relationship turns into a marriage when the child is born.
“Ek Nayaa Rishtaa” has five songs in it composed by music composer Khayyam. The lyricists for this movie are Naqsh Lyallpuri (two songs) and Nida Fazli (three songs). Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Bhupendra and Rekha are the singer for the songs in this movie.
Today on the occasion of the sixth ‘Remembrance Day’ of composer Khayyam (18.02.1927 – 19.08.2019), here is a song from this movie. Today’s song is sung by Bhupinder Singh. It is picturised as a background song while the titles of this movie appear on the screen. We can see Raj Kiran flirting with different women (as befitting his character in the movie) in the picturisation of this song.
Nida Fazli is the lyricist for this song. This is a nice song having lovely verses by Nida Fazli. One can enjoy this song anytime (ignoring the background of the character of Rajiv (Raj Kiran) in the movie and not taking the words in that context of his lifestyle as mentioned in the story of this movie 🙂 , though later he is ‘reformed’ for good 🙂 ).
Singer Bhupinder Singh who got to sing his first solo song under the baton of Khayyam Saab has sung many memorable songs under the music direction of Khayyam Saab. Many of them are soft, serious kind of songs or philosophical songs. This is a different kind of song for a change.
