“Hanste Rehna-1950” was directed by Muhammad Hussain for ‘Rajan Pictures, Bombay’. The cast of this movie included Mukri, Mumtaz, Heera Sawant, Arvind Kumar, Habib, Raja Salim, Sheikh, Afghan Sandow, Kamal Mohan, Zaveri, M. Rafiq, Alfoo, Baby Rekha, Lakhi, Babar, Baby Sandow, Chhotu, Nanda, Dawood, Ghulam Rasool and others.
The movie ‘Hanste Rehna’ was based on the famous novel ‘The Comedy of Errors’. While presenting a song from this movie earlier on the blog our in-house encyclopedia Shri Arunkumar jee has mentioned the following about the Hindi movies made based on the famous novel ‘The Comedy Of Errors’ by William Shakespeare.
The film was made on the famous novel” Comedy of Errors” by William Shakespeare. This story is so interesting that the story and its variations involving Mistaken Identity is used in Hindi as well as regional films, since the beginning of Talkie films. The first such film was Aawaara Shehzada-33. Later on, some of the well-known films made on this story in Hindi are-

“Hanste Rehna-1950” has six songs as per details provided in Geet Kosh Vol-II. Two lyricists viz Farooque Kaiser and Indeewar contributed the lyrics for this movie. However lyricists name is mentioned for only two individual songs in Geet Kosh. Music for this movie was composed by Wadhwa. However, in the addenda of Geet Kosh Vol-II it is mentioned that one song, out of the six songs of this movie, was composed by Shyam Babu Pathak. Leela Mehta, Sulochana Kadam, Khan Mastana and Lata Mangeshkar were the singers for this movie. So far, two songs from this movie have been posted on the blog.
Today’s song is a duet song sung by Sulochana Kadam and Khan Mastana. Lyricists name for this song is not mentioned in Geet Kosh. However the record image uploaded (by Zaifbro) in the audio link mentions Farooque Kaiser as the lyricist for this.
