Continuing our series on some rarely heard songs of Asha Bhosle, we come to this beauty from Gehri Chaal 1973. About eight years ago, Peevsie’s Mom Ji, a regular contributor to the blog had introduced this movie with a very popular song “Jaipur ki choli mangwa de re sainyya.”
Now, I get a chance to introduce a solo by Asha Bhosle – Maara, Wade Ne Tere – which is penned by Rajinder Krishan and composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
The plot of the movie is
“Dharamchand is the chairman of Olympic bank which has its audit due, his daughter Hema finds him dead in bedroom and calls her brother Ratan.Ratan finds a suicide note besides him which mentions that he had taken 20 Lakhs from his band and was unable to pay hence he committed suicide Ratan hides it from everyone including Hema to protect name of his family.Ratan is then approached by a man called Shekar who works for an unknown identity and tells him that he has to assist them in the bank robbery before the audit or else his secret will be out.Ratan decides to be part of the crime in order to protect his family name just when he thinks that his troubles are over Hema sees the robbers and identifies one of the women as Shobha.But Ratan asks Hema to keep it a secret soon Ratan has a visitor Sagar his old friend he as well as Hema feels that Sagar is not the one whom he claims to be.While Ratan believes he could expose his family secret.”
The movie stars Jeetendra, Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchon, Perm Chopra, Bindu, Chandrashekhar. P Jairaj, etc.
There’s some excellent pieces of music in the interludes with Saxophone, trumpet. Guijrars, go on to make this song a beautiful one!!
