# Singer Yesudas’s Birthday #

Today 10th January 2025 is the eighty-fifth birthday of Singer Yesudas (born on 10.01.1940). As of now the statistics page on the blog doesn’t mention the total number of songs Yesudas has sung for Hindi movies. I am sure we will be adding these details soon with one of his songs here. In one of my earlier post I had given the filmography of Yesudas from his debut in Hindi films up to the year 1980. This figure has 84 songs from 52 films. So far, we have not even touched these 84 songs of him on the blog. That means we still have a long way to go before we can cover aa Yesudas songs. Today on his 85th birthday we have already covered two songs sung by him. I am adding one more to his tally today.
The song in this post is from the movie ‘Bhaagya-1982’ which was directed by Naval Kishore for ‘Baba Movietone, Bombay’. It was produced by Ravindranath Dasgupta. The cast of this movie has Vinay Kumar, Meera, Sushma Verma, A.K. Hangal, Sulochana, Bhagwan Dada, Birbal, Chandrashekhar, Jagdeep, Keshto Mukherjee, Prabal Sen, Rajendra Singh Thakur, Zareen, Manmouji, Dev Sharma, Meghdoot. Ajay Bannerjee makes his debut appearance in this movie and Jalal Agha makes a friendly appearance in this movie. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 10.02.1982. HFGK Vol.VI-1981-1985 lists six songs for this movie which are written and composed by Ravindra Jain. Kishore Kumar, Hemalata, Yesudas, Amit Kumar, Abhijeet and Rachna, gave their voices to the songs in this movie.
This movie ‘Bhaagya-1982’ seems to be an obscure movie as not many details are available about this movie. I would request knowledgeable readers who have watched this movie to throw more light on the movie and its songs.
The song under discussion is a very nice song to listen to and I like this song for its poetry, music and singing. I feel that this song deserves to be a well-known song but maybe since the movie itself sank without trace the songs from this movie have also become obscure and forgotten.
