Today 23rd January’2025, is the 128th birth anniversary of one of the greatest sons of this soil, a great visionary, courageous and brave leader Subhash Chandra Bose. He was born on 23rd Janunary 1897 and was last seen in flesh and blood on 18th August 1945. As a tribute to him,I am presenting a song from the movie ‘Pahelaa Aadmee-1950’ on this occasion.
We have been paying our tributes to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on this blog by covering songs from movies which are based on the life of Subhash Chandra Bose. These songs have been presented with heartfelt write-ups from the members of this blog. Even if the songs from such movies get exhausted we will continue to write about him and other brave sons of this soil who laid down their lives for the freedom of this country and for the people of this country.
Literate or illiterate people whoever will come across and read and feel the ‘life stores’ of real life heroes like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose will not believe that such people ever lived on this earth.
We, or the people like me who were born in India – as a free country or got freedom and continue to enjoy the fruits of freedom without paying its costs will never be able to realise what cost people had paid for the sake of their future generations viz for us.
Here, I would like to quote what the famous scientist Albert Einstein had wrote about Mahatma Gandhi.
“Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth”
I strongly feel that this is applicable not only for Mahatma Gandhi, but equally for Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose.
On 26th January we will be celebrating 75 years of Indian Republic.
Staring from today we will pay our tributes to the known and unknown martyrs who laid down their lives for this country. We salute all our freedom fighters, our soldiers, our great leaders – men and women- and all of such people who contributed their mites towards the freedom of the country. We will be posting songs as tributes to these ‘anaam-gumnaam-shaheeds’ as well for the known and the admired ones.
Let us now start our series of tributes with this song from the 1950 movie ‘Pahelaa Aadmee’. The song under discussion became available online just one year ago. Our thanks go to the uploader. This song tells the tale of Subhash Chandra Bose.
Lyrics are by Prakash and music is composed by Rai Chand Boral. Geet Kosh doesn’t mention the name of the singer for this song.
“Pahelaa Aadmee-1950” was directed by Bimal Roy for ‘New Theatres, Calcutta’. This was a movie from the genre of ‘Historical movies’. It had Smriti Biswas, Balraj Vij, Pahadi Sanyal, Ashita Bose, Pal Mahendra, Jahar Rai, Vijay Kumar, Heeralal, Asit Sen, Bhupendra Kapoor, Bela Bose, Puttan, Pandit Natwar, Chandtara, Maya and others.
Geet Kosh lists eleven songs for this movie written by Prakash B.A, Shyamal Gupta, Anant Krishnan, and Deshraj. Music for this movie was composed by Rai Chand Boral.
