The struggle for freedom war spearheaded by leaders using various media available to them at the time, viz stories, poems, dramas etc. When the new medium of movies became available, some movie makers in India used this medium for the cause of freedom struggle as well.
These films and their songs inspired people at that time and they continue to inspire subsequent generations of movie watchers and music lovers as well.
Some of these songs are played during occasions like Independence day and Republic day.
While some of these songs became very popular and even iconic songs, some songs remained lesser heard and forgotten. I am looking for such lesser known patriotic songs.
On this occasion of India completing Seventy-Five years of being a Republic, we are paying our tributes to the martyrs, patriots, and others who helped make it possible by contributing their mites.
In this post I am presenting a song from an un-released movie of 1952. The title of this movie is ‘Qurbaani’. It was an Excelsis Pictures Presentation. No information is available about the Producer, Director and Cast of this movie. Geet Kosh Vol-III lists only two songs sung by Manna Dey, and the lyricist as C.J. Pawri and composer V. Balsara for this movie. It also notes that the recording of the songs for this movie was done in the year 1952. Today I am presenting the first song from this movie which, as mentioned above is sung by Manna Dey. It is a nice song to listen to where a soldier is proudly telling the world that ‘sipaahee hoon main hind kaa, hind meraa pyaar’.
