#the Decade of Fifties –1951 – 1960 #

Today’s song is from the movie ‘Chetak Aur Rana Pratap’. This movie was passed by the Censor Board on 07.08.1958. This movie is making its debut on the blog today, and I am surprised that so far it was missing here. Perhaps unavailability of the songs of this movie was the reason. Now a couple of songs of this movie have become available since 2019. The title of the movie suggests that it falls under the genre of ‘historical movies’.
“Chetak Aur Rana Pratap” was directed by Sultan for ‘Blue Star Movies, Bombay’. It was produced by Ameer Nasir. The cast of this movie had Amaranth, Neeru (Shantakumari), Shyam, Baby Raja, Motee (the horse), Habib, Jagdish Kamal, Heera, Nargis (Junior), Mayadas, Radheshyam, Maqbool, Agha Miraj, Naresh Chandra, Ajit Kumar, Sushil Kumar, Yakub, Naresh Kumar, Nazir Kashmiri, Fazal Khan, Janardan, Bagla, Ramkumar, Anjum, and others. Kamran and Nazi were the guest artistes in this movie.
Geet Kosh Vol-III (1951-1960) lists ten songs for this movie, which are penned by Balram (9 songs) and Muzaffar Shahjahanpuri (one song) who wrote one song and rest nine songs were written by Balram. The singers for this movie are Mubarak Begam, Shri Khursheed Bawra, Suman Kalyanpur, Iqbal and Bagla. Geet Kosh mentions that the gramophone records of this movie were released under the title of ‘Chetak’.
Today I present a song from this movie which is in the voice of Suman Kalyanpur. Lyrics are by Balram and music is composed by Iqbal. I guess that the today’s song is the first song of lyricist Balram on this blog.
Only audio of the song is available. This is a song that exhorts Maharana Pratap to do his duty towards his nation like his illustrious predecessors.
Let us listen to this song now…
