Today’s song is a devotional cum philosophical song from the movie ‘Bhakta Dhrvu-1957’. I never came across this song earlier and I have no recollections of having listened to it yet this song seems to be familiar to me. The composition by Basant Prakash is very nice and Asha Bhonsle has sung this song so well that listening to it becomes a divine experience.
As many as seven Hindi films have been made that are based on Dhruv Kumar or Bhakta Dhruv. These movies are ‘Dhruv Charitra-1933’, ‘Dhruv Kumar-1938’, ‘Bhakta Dhruva-1947’, ‘Bhakta Dhruv-1957’ and ‘Bhakta Dhruv Kumar-1964’ and ‘Baalak Dhruva-1974’. There was one movie in 1983 which was a dubbed movie titled as ‘Bhakta Dhruv-1983’.
“Bhakta Dhruva-1957” was directed by Gunjaal for Ashok Pictures, and it was passed by Censor Board on 18.10.1957. R.L. Arora was the producer of this movie. It had Sulochana, Shahu Modak, Jeevan, Vinod Kumar, Bimla, Sundar, Gulaab, Shammi, Ramesh Kapoor, Amar, Kesho and others. Mala Sinha, Trilok Kapoor, Anant Kumar, Badri Prasad, Ramesh Sinha and Kanchanmala had guest appearance in this movie. This movie has seven songs as mentioned in Geet Kosh Vol-III (1951-1960). All the songs of this movie were written by Pt. Madhur. Music was composed by Basant Prakash and Avinash Vyas. The singers for this movie are Geeta Dutt, Manna Dey, Shamshad Begam, and Asha Bhonsle.
The first song from this movie ‘kaali kamli odhh ke aaye’ was posted on the blog on 12.06.2011. Thereafter the second song from this movie was posted on 20.01.2023. This was the song ‘pihu pihu pihu pihu pihu papeeharaa bol rahaa hai’. Incidentally both the song from this movie that are posted on the blog are composed by music composer Avinash Vyas. And, as mentioned above, the music for this movie is composed by two composers Basant Prakash and Avinash Vyas. Today we are presenting a song composed by Basant Prakash from this movie. Asha Bhonsle is the singer and lyrics are by Pt Madhur.
