Today’s song is from the movie ‘Sati Vaishalini-1959’. ‘Sati Vaishalini-1959’ was directed by Sadhu Singh for Rati Chitra, Mumbai. It was produced by P.N. Rangeen and passed by Censor Board on 19.11.1959. The cast of this movie has Trilok Kapoor, Sulochana, Lalita Pawar, Ratnamala, Krishnakumari, Niranjan Sharma, Nand Kishore, Tiwari, Shyam, Hari, Krishna Kumar, Roshanlal, and others. Heeralal, Sheela Kashmiri, Savita Chatterjee, Jyoti, Niranjan Tiwari and Kamal Kapoor had made guest appearances in this movie.
Hindi Film Geet Kosh Vol-III (1951-1960) mentions in the foot note of this movie page that this movie was also as known as ‘Janam Janam Ka Naata’ and the story of this movie was based on ‘Maarkandeya Puraan’.
‘Sati Vaishalini’ had eight songs written by Bharat Vyas. Music for this movie was composed by Premnath. (It is mentioned by Atul ji while presenting the first song from this movie on the blog, this Premnath is different from the actor of the same name).
This movie had made its debut on the blog on 15.10.2016 with its song ‘jab tak khadaa himaalay hai… amar rahegi is jag mein’. And, as I mentioned earlier I think this was the only song from this movie that was available for posting. In recent years the music enthusiasts have uploaded many more songs from this movie. That enabled me to present the second song from this movie viz ‘chaahe log kare apmaan … ye hai naataa janam janam kaa’ on 01.06.2022.
Today, when I am presenting this third song from this movie which I have just come across today, I once again would like to express my gratitude towards all music lovers who have been instrumental in bringing such rare songs on internet where they can reach larger audience. Due credit also goes to the creators of ‘Geet Kosh’ who, after lot of efforts, list down the year-wise, decade-wise songs, and the information about the Hindi movies since the decades of 1930s. It is very natural that the above feelings come from a ‘musical heart’ after listening to such songs like the song being discussed here.
This song is a nice romantic duet sung by Asha Bhonsle and Mohd Rafi. The tune of this song seems to be a familiar, and I think there is some other song which has similar tune, but I am not able to put a finger to it. I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie and it’s songs. Lyrics of this song are by Bharat Vyas and music is composed by Premnath (music director).
