Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle- 26

Today I am presenting to you another rare song “Raaz-e-Dil Hum Se Kaho” by Asha Bhosle from the movie Teri Talash Mein 1968.

“Teri Talaash Mein”(1968) was directed by Kewal Mishra for A G Movies Arts, Bombay. The movie had Kumkum, Shailesh, Madan Mohan, Mohan Choti, Ram Mohan, Indira, K N Singh, Amarnath, Khairati, Rani, Nazeer Kashmiri, Wazir Mohammad Khan, Kishore Sharma etc in it.

Three songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the fourth song from this movie. This wonderful yet less heard song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. All the six songs are penned by Naqsh Lyallpuri and composed by the very talented but underrated composer duo Sapan Jagmohan.

Only the audio of this song is available.

Sapan Jagmohan was a notable Indian music composer duo active primarily during the 1960s and 1970s, comprising Sapan Sengupta and Jagmohan Bakshi. Both artists began their musical journeys as singers in Salil Chowdhury’s Bombay Youth Choir and contributed as backup singers in Hindi films.

Their initial foray into music direction was with the Punjabi film Jeejaji in 1961, which featured successful songs. Their first Hindi film project, China Bridge, was shelved after recording just one song. However, they gained recognition with their first released Hindi film, Begaana (1963), which included songs sung by legends like Mohammed Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar.

Throughout their career, Sapan-Jagmohan composed music for approximately 90 films across various languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, and Bhojpuri. Some of their notable Hindi films include Chetna(1970), Do Raha (1971), Call Girl (1974), Kaagaz Ki Naav (1975), Sajjo Rani (1976), Mera Jiwan (1976), Raees (1976), Abhi To Jee Lein (1977), etc.

Despite not being associated with major film banners, their compositions were known for their melodic depth and emotional resonance.

Jagmohan Bakshi passed away in 1999, and Sapan Sengupta died in 2022 at the age of 90.

This song is a tender, emotionally rich ghazal-style composition, steeped in longing and intimate understanding. The song is driven by Asha Ji’s gentle and heartfelt rendering, which perfectly conveys a mixture of empathy, love, and quiet yearning, Sapan Jagmohan’s composition, which blends subtle orchestration with melodic intricacy, especially in the use of sitar, violins, and soft percussion—characteristic of their gentle, understated musical style and above all the lyrics by Naqsh Layallpuri, which are very evocative.

“Raaz-e-dil ham se kaho” remains a hidden treasure of the Asha–Sapan Jagmohan–Naqsh Layallpuri, collaboration, ideal for listeners who appreciate rare or rarely heard songs which are subtle, emotionally mature Hindi film music. It exemplifies the power of restraint and lyrical grace in music.
