#the Decade of Forties – 1941 – 1950 #
————————————————————————
Today’s song is from the 1950 movie “Basera”. Four songs from this movie have been posted on the blog earlier. This movie made its debut on the blog on 29.01.2016 with its song ‘Prem kahaani chhede jawaani ’ sung by Mubarak Begam. The second song from this movie ‘Dekho jee baat suno Hum se tum aan milo’ was posted on 10.08.2016 which is sung by Bahadur Nanji and Mubarak Begam. After covering one solo song and one duet song from this movie, we posted the third song from this movie on the blog on 16.10.2024, and this was a song in the category of ‘joie de vivre’ song ‘Laut aaye piyaa ’ which was sung by Sulochana Kadam. The fourth song from this movie was again a song sung by Sulochana Kadam and this song was a melancholic song. This song ‘Panchhee gulshan chhod chaley ’ was posted on the blog on 19.05.2025.
I have mentioned in my earlier posts that the voice of Sulochana Kadam appears in three songs of this movie.
‘Basera-1950’ was directed by Inayat for Watan Pictures, Bombay. This was a social movie as mentioned in Geet Kosh Vol-II (1941-1950). Geet Kosh mentions Ramola, Heeralal, Veena Kumari, Roopmala, Chanda and Bhudo Advani as the cast of this movie. Title for six songs is mentioned in Geet Kosh for the list of songs from this movie leaving an indication that there might be more songs in this movie that are not known. All the six songs for ‘Baseraa-1950’ are penned by Sardar Ilham and music is composed by M. A. Rauf. The singers’ names for this movie include Sulochana Kadam, Mubarak Begam, and B.S. Nanji. Out of six songs listed in Geet Kosh for this movie four songs have already been posted earlier on this blog.
Out of the four songs posted from this movie I have presented two songs sung by Sulochana Kadam. Today I am presenting the fifth song from this movie and the third song having the voice of Sulochana Kadam. Today’s song is a female duet sung by Sulochana Kadam and Mubarak Begam. This song is a song of mixed feelings that is happy on one side (where the love has been successfully reciprocated), while sad on the other where the girl is missing her beloved or her love has not been successfully reciprocated from the other side (I guess:) ).
Only audio of this song is available.
Let us listen to this song now …

Lyrics
shaam huyee aur deep jaley ae
shaam huyee aur deep jaley
aakaash pe taare naachenge ae naachenge
phir man mein chhidee hain shehnaayee ee
ab morey paayal baajenge ae ae ae
baajenge em>
shaam huyee ee andhiyaare phaile
shaam huyee ee
andhiyaare phaile
gham ke baadal
aayenge ae
bojhal kar ke
bheegee aankhen
aansoo umde aayenge ae
aansoo umde aayenge ae ae
shaam huyee ee
andhiyaare phaile
man ke armaan jaag uthhe hain
jeewan jyot jagaayenge ae
jeewan jyot jagaayenge
dukh kee ghadiyaan beet gayeen
aur sukh ke din ab aayenge ae ae
aayenge
dukh kee ghadiyaan
ro ro beeteen
sukh ke din kab aayenge ae ae
hriday mein mere
aag lagee hain
nainaa neer bahaayenge ae ae
nainaa neer bahaayenge ae
shaam huyee ee
andhiyaare phaile
