Mukesh and his Composers – 42
What do these three films have in common?
• Footpath (1953)
• Shola aur Shabnam (1961)
• Shagoon (1964)
Well, it’s no brainteaser. Khayyam saab scored music for all the above quoted films.
But then a lesser-known trivia is the name of Vipin Mehra who was the assistant music director in all the three films.
Now, who is Vipin Mehra and what are his credentials and contributions to Hindi film and Nonfilm music?
Well, my efforts on the net drew a blank expect a few sketchy details. What I could assimilate is as follows.
• Assistant music director for three films cited above.
• Composed three beautiful NFS songs by Mukesh.
• Composed two melodious bhajans in the voice of Talat Mahmood.
I request knowledgeable readers to add more information about Vipin Mehra and his works.
Coming to the 3 songs of Mukesh, here are the details. This post could have as well been placed under my other series Mukesh and his NFS, but I wanted to give more prominence to the rather obscure composer.
One can only make a guess that the composer, Mukesh and lyricist Jan Nisar Aktar must have developed friendship whilst working under Khayaam saab.

Stuti ji,
NFS stands for Non-Film Songs.
Many playback singers, composers and lyricists have contributed and created these private songs.
They have also been released as records by many companies in different formats.
