Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 54

Well, coming back to my favourite series, the rare Asha Bhosle sung songs, I present to you this song “Aaja Mere Saathi Mere Yaar” from “The Criminals” AKA “Hum Sab Chor Hain” (1973). This song is sung by Asha Bhosle, written by Indeevar and composed by Usha Khanna.

The main star cast of the movie was Dara Singh and Sheikh Mukhtar in the lead roles, with supporting performances from Hiralal, Jagdish Raj, Shabnam, and Kundan, among others.

It was directed by Maruti Rao Parab for producer A V Mohan.

The film is a crime thriller with social overtones, centering on how ordinary people can get entangled in crime, sometimes out of compulsion, sometimes out of greed, and sometimes as a fight against injustice.

A wealthy businessman is murdered under mysterious circumstances, and suspicion falls on several people around him. The police investigation uncovers a tangled web of deceit, betrayal, and greed.

The main characters include a group of men who have each, in one way or another, been involved in petty crimes or shady dealings. They are not hardened criminals, but victims of circumstance. As the story progresses, it is revealed that they are being used as pawns in a much bigger conspiracy masterminded by a powerful figure in society.

The tension rises as the police close in on the suspects, and each man’s backstory is shown—why he turned to crime and how society branded him as a “chor” (thief). The film tries to convey the message that not everyone who appears guilty is truly a criminal, and that sometimes society itself pushes people into crime.

In the climax, the real mastermind is exposed, and the so-called “criminals” are shown in a more sympathetic light. The ending emphasizes social justice and the idea that circumstances, not always intent, define whether one is a criminal.

The song is picturised on Dara Singh and Shabnam, the lead stars. It is a villain’s den song.

jaan pe khelee tere liye main
jab tujhko paaya aa
jaan se khelee tere liye main
jab tujhko paaya
jeete jee tere saath rahoongee
jeete jee tere saath rahoongee
