Today’s song is from the 1964 movie ‘Rustom-E-Rome’ which was passed by the Censor Board on 28.03.1964. It was directed by Radhakant for Sargam Chitra, Bombay. This stunt movies had Dara Singh, Azad, Vijaya Chaudhary, Rajan Kapoor, Sundar, Aruna, Madhumati, Rajrani, Arvind Pandya, S.K. Shyam, Ram Raseela, Anand, Jilani, Bihari, Haroon, Qamar, Tiger Joginder Singh, Al Rad Gova, Saudagar Singh, Pal Vachan, Ismail Azad, Jaani Babu, Shery, Indira and others.
‘Rustom-E-Rome-1964’ has five songs written by Zafar Rahi and Naazaan Sholapuri. Music for this movie was composed by Suresh Kumar. Geet Kosh Vol-IV (1961-1970) does not give the distribution of song between the two lyricists. Asha Bhonsle, Jaani Babu, Ismail Azad, Mohd Rafi, Mahendra Kapoor, and Kamal Barot are the singers for the songs of this movie.
This movie had made its debut on this blog on 01.06.2009 wherein its first song ‘ye bahakti ghataayen ye mahakti hawaayen’ sung by Asha Bhonsle and Mohd Rafi was posted on the blog. The second from this movie was later posted on 07.03.2017. This song was ‘dekhte hi tujhe dil satkegaa’ which had the voices of Mahendra Kapoor and Kamal Barot. So, one can note that so far two duet songs from this movie have been posted on the blog.
Today, I am presenting the third song from this movie which is a qawwaalee song. It is a ‘male duet’ song, sung by Jaani Babu Qawwaal and Ismail Azad Qawwaal and party.
In geet kosh the starting lines of the today’s song are mentioned as ‘jo achchhee cheez hotee hai…. husnwaalon kee kyaa baat hai’. However the links that I came across on internet for this song do not have the line ‘jo achchhee cheez hotee hai…’. Perhaps the version that is available is a curtailed version. (I have not watched this movie. When I checked the video of this song, even the video of this song starts with ‘husnwaalon kee kyaa baat hai’).
