Today 7th October 2025 is the eighty-fifth birthday of music composer and singer Usha Khanna (born on 7th October 1941).
On this occasion I am presenting song that is sung as well as composed by her.
This song is from the 1979 movie ‘Meri Beewee Ki Shaadi’. It was directed by Rajat Rakshit for AVM Arts International, Bombay. It was a social movie. The cast of this movie included Amol Palekar, Ranjeet, Ashok Saraf, C.S. Dubey, Maruti, Datta Bhatt, Jankidas, R. Verma, M. Naidu, Ashok Narang, Baba Naik, Siraj, Susheela Raut, Pramod Naidu, Chanda, Anuradha, Dilip Kulkarni (debutant) and others. Neelu Phule and Namita Chandra had special appearances in this movie.

The story tells the story of a hypochondriac man who misunderstands his family doctor’s talk and comes to the conclusion that he has only a few days to live. He begins frantic efforts to make life easier for his wife by pairing her off with her old college mate, making arrangements for his last rites and making his will. The wife is unable to understand the husband’s strange behavior. All this strange behaviour on his part provides masaala for fun which was lapped up by the audience.
‘Meri Biwi Ki Shaadi’ or ‘Meri Beewee Ki Shaadi’ has four songs composed by Usha Khanna. The lyricists for this movie are Ravindra Jain (two songs), S.H. Bihari (one song) and Asad Bhopali (one song). Usha Khanna, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Mohd Rafi and Suresh Wadkar are the singers in this movie.
