Mukesh and his NFS – 09

In the aftermath of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination, the team of composers Hunslal-Bhagatram, lyricist Rajendra Krishna and singer Mohd. Rafi created a marathon NFS overnight. The song was over 12 minutes long and was made into 4 parts probably to fit on the 78-rpm record disc. The song was an instant hit all over the country.

On the blog, this song was represented way back in 2012 and here is the link.

During the same period, Mukesh also recorded a song on the situation and circumstances.

But, unlike the Mohd Rafi song, this NFS by Mukesh never became popular with the masses. It is so obscure and relatively unheard that even the composer’s name is not known. Only the lyricist’s name Pandit Lalit Goswami is known. There is one more patriotic song by the lyricist, again sung by Mukesh and then no trace of him on the net.

So, you have Mukesh as the singer, a lyricist who probably has only 2 songs to his credit and an unknown composer. No wonder, the song is so unidentified and probably only the voice of Mukesh was counted upon during its making.

Mukesh with his golden voice, has given all his emotions and heartfelt feelings into the song. It’s nearly 8 decades old and thanks to YouTube uploader Pawan Tanay ji, we get to hear this gem of a song again.
Many followers of the blog could be hearing this song for the first time.

The sense of gloom and uncertainty that was prevailing is expressed by Mukesh in his enduring voice.

Listen and admire the magic of the voice that so effortlessly succeeded in conveying human emotions and feelings.

Song-Dooba sooraj maanavta ka (Mukesh NFS)(1948) Singer-Mukesh, Lyricist-Pt Lalit Goswami, MD-Unknown

Lyrics

Dooba sooraj maanavta ka
Manav lok hua sunsaan
Bapu tum na gaye duniya se
Chalee gayee duniya kee shaan
Chalee gayee duniya kee shaan

Ghar lagte hain bandee ghar se
ujde se lagte baazaar
Ghar lagte hain bandee ghar se
ujde se lagte baazaar
har aankhon mein umde aansoo
har dil mein hai haahaakaar
har aankhon mein umde aansoo
har dil mein hai haahaakaar
maano aaj yateem ho gaya
duniya ka har ek insaan
duniya kaa har ek insaan
Bapu tum na gaye duniya se
Chalee gayee duniya kee shaan

O navjeevan dene waale
jeevan hai ab mushqil mein
aise gahre ghaav huye hain
Bharat maata ke dil mein
Jinhen pralay tak bhee aansoo se
bhar na sakega Hindostan
bhar na sakega Hindostan
Bapu tum na gaye duniya se
Chalee gayee duniya kee shaan

Jab ki desh mein baras rahe hain
baadal dukh ke naye naye
Jab ki desh mein baras rahe hain
baadal dukh ke naye naye
chhod karodon dukhiyon ko
hey dukhharta tum chale gaye
chhod karodon dukhiyon ko
hey dukhharta tum chale gaye
kab aaogey
kab aaogey
kab aaogey
phir Gandhi ban kar aaane waale Bhagwan
hey Bhagwan
hey Bhagwan
Bapu tum na gaye duniya se
Chalee gayee duniya kee shaan
Chalee gayee duniya kee shaan
