“Aurat”(1940), the original version of “Mother India”(1957) was directed by Mehboob Khan for National Studios. This movie had Sardar Akhtar, Surendra, Lala Yaqoob, Jyoti, Harish, Arun Kumar Ahuja, Vatsala Kumthekar, Brij Rani, Akbar Ghulam Ali, etc in it.
“Aurat”(1940) had 13 songs in it. Four of these songs have been covered in the blog.
Here is the fifth song from the movie to appear in the blog. This song is a duet that is sung by Surendra and Jyoti. It is picturised on them as well.
Safdar Aah Sitapuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Anil Biswas.
I have not been able to get a word in the song especially in the line “is nadi ka ho(?) aaja kinaara”. There could be a few more eroors as well. I request our readers with keener ears to help suggest the correct word(s) wherever applicable.
