Today’s song is from the movie ‘Shree Ram Bharat Milan-1965’. It is the final song from this movie to be posted thus this song will cover all songs of this movie here today.
‘Shree Ram Bharat Milan-1965’, a mythological movie was directed by Manibhai Vyas for R.M. Art Productions, Bombay. It was produced by Ratan and Mohan and presented by Pt Madhur and S.P. Mangal. In the cast of this movie we have Prithviraj Kapoor playing Raja Dashrath, Nirupa Roy as Kaikeyi, Sulochana as Kaushalya, Anita Guha playing Seeta, actor Mahipal as Raam, and actor Rajkumar (from south?) as Bharat. The supporting cast of this movie had Saraswati, Balakram, Bhuvna, B.M. Vyas, Sunanda, Niranjan Sharma, Padma Rani, Arvind, Vanmala, Joirabhai, Anand Tiwari, C.N. Kapoor, Shekhar Purohit and others. Madhumati, Sheela R., Aruna, and Bela Bose were casted as dancers in this movie.
Story of this movie was written by Pt Narottam Vyas, and screenplay was written by Vishwanath Pande. Pt Madhur and C.K. Mast wrote the dialogues of this movie. Editing of this movie was done by P.S. Wagle.
While presenting the first song from this movie ‘mat jaao mat jaao mat jaao Raam jee’ on 06.02.2018 on this blog our dear Sudhir jee had mentioned the following about the background of two films on the same story from Ramayana that were released in the year 1965.
Time was 1960s, and religious films still had a popular following. And the producers’ community also had an ongoing interest, to continue making films based on our scriptures and ancient history, ensuring that these stories do not fade away from public memory. Their objective was also to ensure that the teachings of the epic stories associated with religion, continue to be passed on to the newer generations. It was a matter of personal and collective responsibility that the film makers and other artists would continue to get together and make such films. Sadly, in the recent decades, this awareness and this responsibility has become a thing of the past.
In 1965, two films were released narrating the story of brotherly love between Sri Ram and Sri Bharat. The other film is titled ‘Bharat Milaap’.
This movie is available on internet. After watching parts of this movie I can say that this movie covers the story of Ramayana starting from Seeta Swayamwar, Kaikeyi’s seeking the throne for her son Bharat, and vanvaas to Shree Raam in lieu of the two boons that Raja Dashrath had promised her earlier, Bharat not accepting the throne and instead carrying Raam’s paadukaa and worshipping it, and finally Raja Raam’s coming back to Ayodhya after fourteen years of vanvaas.
This movie has six songs written by Kavi Pradeep and they were composed by Pandit Shivram. The singers for this movie are Asha Bhonsle, Kamal Barot, Mohd Rafi, and Usha Mangeshkar.
Five songs from this movie have already been posted on this blog earlier and today’s song is the sixth and final song. The movie will thus get YIPPEED with this song. ‘
Today’s song, sung by Mohd Rafi, is about the love of the brothers Lord Shree Raam and Bharat. This song is present in the movie in two parts.
The first part is played in the background while titles of the movie are rolling on the screen.
The story that gets covered till the appearance of the second part of the song is:-
Prince Bharat after refusing to accept his mother’s wish to accept the throne of Ayodhya sets out towards the forests to bring Shree Raam, Seetaa Maiyya and Lakshman back to Ayodhya. His mother Kaikeyi, Kaushalya and brother Shatrughan also accompanies him in the forests. He is finally able to meet Shree Raam but Lord Raam refuses to returning back to Ayodhya till he completes his vanvaas as promised by him to their father.
Kaushalya then suggests Bharat to take Prabhu Raam’s paadukaas to Ayodhya, which he accepts on the condition that on completion of the fourteen years of vanvaas Prabhu Shree Raam will return to Ayodhya on the last day of his vanvaas before the sun sets. Bharat also declares that if this did not happen he will get himself immolated on the pyre. His elder brother assures him that ‘bhaai ke praanon kee aahutee lekar Raam Ayodhyaa ke sinhaasan par naheen baithhegaa Bharat’…
The second part of this song, like the movie opening first part, gets played in the background. Only the mukhdaa’ of this song is played in the background in the end of the movie as Prabhu Shree Raam returns to Ayodhya with Maata Seetaa and brother Lakshman and takes over as the King of Ayodhya.
Let us listen to the simple yet heart touching lyrics of Kavi Pradeep and composition of Shivram in the divine voice of Mohd Rafi Saab.
