#the Decade of Fifties – 1951 – 1960 #

In this post I am again sharing a Qawwalee song from the golden period of Hindi Film Music i.e. the decade of 1951-1960. I had come across this song around a month back and later it got delayed for one reason or other. This Qawwaalee song is sung by the famous Qawwaal duo Shankar-Shambhu. It gives me immense pleasure to present this song for the listening pleasure of readers of this blog.
This song is from the 1956 movie ‘Fighting Queen’. It was produced and directed by Nari Ghadiyali for N.K.G. Productions, Bombay. As is clear from the title of this movie it was a stunt movie. It was passed by the Censor Board on 04.08.1956.
The cast of this movie had Nadiya, John Cavas, Pramila, Shaikh, Habib, Shamim Chaudhary, Noorjahan, Anjum, Hanuman, Mustafa, Azeem, Ahmed, S. Jahangir, and Shankar-Shambhu Qawwaal.
‘Fighting Queen-1956’ has eight songs in it. All the songs were penned by Saba Afghani. Music for this movie was composed by Nisar. The playback singers for this movie are Mubarak Begam, Nisar, Shaukat, Shri Khurshid Bawra, Chaudhary, Geeta Dutt, Chandbala, and Shankar-Shambhu Qawwaal.
This movie ‘‘Fighting Queen-1956’ had made its debut on this blog on 19.04.2017 with its song ‘ban ke bahaar aayee hoon’ sung by Geeta Dutt. No songs from this movie have been posted thereafter on the blog. Today I present the second song from this movie here.
As mentioned above it is a ‘Qawwaalee song’ sung by Shankar-Shambhu Qawwaal and party. From the names given in the cast of this movie, I guess that on screen this song is performed by Shankar-Shambhu Qawwaal themselves. Lyrics are by Saba Afghani and music is composed by Nisar.
