#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #

In this post I am presenting the second song from the movie ‘Loha Singh (Bhojpuri) -1966’. While presenting the first song from this movie earlier on 07.10.2025, I had mentioned that ‘keep watching for the next song from this movie in near future soon’ … so today I am presenting this special song and I feel immense pleasure in doing this presentation here.
This song is special because it is a ‘Qawwaalee’ song. And the singing voices are of Manna Dey and Rafi Sahab. But, this ‘Qawwaalee’ is not about a ‘competition’ among the two males, but rather it is ‘philosophically romantic ‘Qawwaalee’’ where both the leading characters are expressing their feelings after falling in love and sufferings of their ‘dil kaa darad’ 🙂
The movie ‘Loha Singh-1966’ was directed by Kundan Kumar for Vikramsheel Arts. The cast of this movie had Sujit Kumar, Vijaya Chaudhary, R.S. Kashyap, Sujata, Tiwari, Sheel Kumar, Helen and others. Geet Kosh mentions seven songs for this movie with a space leaving a possibility of more songs for this movie which are not known. The singers list for this movie includes Usha Mangeshkar, Manna Dey, Asha Bhonsle, Suman Kalyanpur, Mohd Rafi and Mahendra Kapoor. As mentioned earlier the list of the singers for this movie promises possibility of treasure of songs in this movie. And after listening to the first song and this second song from this movie one can believe this. However not all songs from this movie seem to be available as of now. I had come across this song during my daily listening of songs and browsing for songs on internet recently.
This song composed by S.N. Tripathi is simply wonderful. Lyrics by R.S. Kashyap (Rama Shankar Kashyap) are very enjoyable. I may not have been able to note some words correctly, but I fully enjoyed listening to this composition repeatedly while preparing this write-up.
This movie doesn’t seem to be available on internet. I would request knowledgeable readers who may have watched this movie or have information about this movie to please throw more light on it here on this blog please.

Editor’s note: It is not a qawwali, but a folk music style song where people gather at a place and express their feelings on any subject of their choice in the form of a song. Here they are expressing their feelings about the charms of pretty ladies. Some well known folk music style songs being “Chalat musaafir moh liya re pinjrewaali maina” where people are discussing a bird and “Kaun rang mungwa kaun rang motiya” where bhaabhi’s husband is being discussed by Nanad and Bhabhi.
