#the Decade of Forties – 1941 – 1950 #

Regulars on this blog must have already noticed that nowadays I have been regularly sharing older songs. I had started as a fan and contributor of songs from the seventies – to early eighties’. But I like songs from earlier decades as well. But my exposure to songs of 1930s and 1940s may have been limited to the “puraani Filmon ke geet” programme of SLBC that was broadcast from 7:30 AM to 8 AM, ending with a K L Saigal song at the stroke of 8 AM. However thanks to this blog, now I have been listening to many many older songs and also sharing them here. Listening to these songs is always a pleasure.
Readers and regulars on the blog might have also taken a note of regular comments of Shree Uma Maheswar Nakka on all these old songs and gems of songs. He has always been mentioning about the pleasure of listening to these rarely heard and lesser known yesteryear songs. I would like to give him a ‘big thanks’ for appreciating our efforts which motivates us further to keep on going and brining such songs here.
The song I am presenting here is a nice composition sung soulfully by Ameerbai Karnataki.
This song is from the “social” movie ‘Rangeen Kahaani-1947’. This movie was directed by Anjum Hussaini for ‘New Roshan Art Productions, Bombay’. The cast of this movie had Surekha, S. Irshad, Dulari, Agha Mirza, Sayyad Ahmed, Bibi Jaan, Khursheed Parvez, P.D. Lal, Maqbool, M.K. Hasan, Ghulam Mohiddin, Sarita, Faiyyaz Begam, Mehrunnisa, Azim Hyderabadi, Mahshar Shirazi and others.
‘Rangeen Kahaani-1947’ has nine songs that were written by Waheed Qureshi and composed by Feroz Nizami. The singers for this movie included Ameerbai and Feroz Nizami. However, HFGK Vol-II (1941-1950) is silent about the singer(s) for one song leaving a blank in place of singer’s name.
