“Andhera”(1943) was a “social” movie that was directed by Aspi Irani for Ranjit Movietone, Bombay. This movie had Sitara Devi, Arun Kumar Ahuja, K C Dey, Kesari, Bhagwan Das, Baby Madhuri, Laxman, Malti, Rajkumari etc in it.
“Andhera”(1943) had 11 songs that are quite rare. with time, some of these movies have become available on line.
Two songs , both solo songs of K C Dey, have been covered in the past.
Here is the third song from “Andhera”(1943) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Sitara Devi and Arun Kumar Ahuja. Pt Indra is the lyricist. Music is composed by Gyan Dutt.
Only audio of the song is available. But seeing that the singing duo had acted in the movie, it is clear that the song was picturised on them as well. In fact, all the eleven songs of this movie were picturised on the singers of the songs themselves.
I have not been able to get a few words right in the lyrics, especially in the portion that are sung by Sitara Devi. I request our readers with keener ears too help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections in the lyrics wherever applicable.
