#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #

Today’s song is from yet another forgotten and obscure movie of its time i.e. ‘Yeh Khoon Rang Layega-1970’. This movie had made its debut on the blog on 12.10.2018 with its song ‘qayaamat hai teree nigaahon kaa jaadu’.
This first song from the movie was presented on the blog by our Respected Shree Sudhir jee. However, after this first song no song from this movie was posted thereafter, and that might be because of the rarity and non-availability of its songs. Now, couple of songs from this movie have been made available on internet by another good friend Shree D.S. Rathi jee. We music lovers thank him and are grateful for his generously in continuously making such rare songs available for public to listen to.
While presenting the first song from this movie Shree Sudhir jee had mentioned the following in his post. I am reproducing the text as it is, to keep continuity for the readers on this blog.
Today’s film is just about at the bottom of the decade. The film name is ‘Ye Khoon Rang Laayega’ from 1970. Considering the alphabetic listing scheme by year, you will find this film at the second last position in GK volume no. 4 (of the regular set of Hindi films of that decade).
Once again, a song that has been sitting in my collection for oh so long. Picked it up today and listened to it for the first time. Music director – Robin Bannerji. And I just do not seem to be getting enough listen of this song. What a wonderful twin dance duet – voices are Usha Mangeshkar and Krishna Kalle. K Kalle’s voice seems to be somewhat subdued in the company of the razor sharp voice of Usha M. But together, they are a magic weaved by the music director. Listening to such songs, one always is left with a craving – wish Robin Bannerji had done more films in his career. But that was not to be. Most of the decade of the 1970s and part of 1980s, was lost in battling ill health, compounded by two unfortunate accidents. He passed away on 27th July, 1986.
The film is from the banner of Sanjay Films, Bombay and is directed by Roshan Bhardwaj. The six listed songs are penned by two lyricists – Anjaan and Yogesh – honour shared equally. This song is written by Yogesh. The star cast of the film is interesting – Helen, Randhawa, Mukri, SK Prem, Uma Dutt, Gul Hamid, Shaam Kumar, Saudagar Singh, Dhanraj, Rinku, Ratnamala, Lalita Desai, Sushma, Poonam Kapoor, Ishwar Bhai, Khurshid Khan, Kesari, Madhumati, Rani, and Lakshamichhaya amongst others.
Let us now listen to this song which is in the voice of Krishna Kalle. Lyrics are by Yogesh and music is composed by Robin Bannerjee. I do not remember to have listened to this song earlier and would request knowledgeable readers who might have got to watch this movie or listen to its songs earlier, to throw more light on this film and its songs. Only audio of the today’s song is available.
