Readers farmaishes
Seeing that I receive farmaishes (requests) from my readers , It would be a good idea to have a separate page for that. So here is this page. Please use it to give your farmaishes for songs that you may like me to include in the blog. Just make sure to check that the song asked by you is not yet posted. You may refer to the pages that shows the complete lists of posted songs (by movie/ by music director/by year- as the case may be) for reference.
Thanks !

While we are on “Do Chor”, a movie with fabulous songs, let me request another nice song from that movie:
Song: Yaari ho gayi yaar se lak tunu tunu
Movie: Do chor
Year: 1972
I think last three words are “lak tunu tunu”. Not 100% sure what is.

Hippi, cheelam, smoke and style of picturization reminds me another song from same music director (i.e. RD Burman)
Song: Dum maro dum mit jaaye gum
Movie: Hare rama hare krishna
Year: 1971

“Hare Rama Hare Krishna” was blockbuster and given the popularity even today (of the song like “Dum maro dum”), all songs must be craze then. I am surprised to see only “Kaanchi re kaanchi re” in the blog.
Anyway, with “Raksabandhan” coming, I am going to request a very popular brother-sister song of the movie (and one of my favorite). Simple and beautiful lyrics (salute to Anand Bakshi), and wonderful composition (by Jr. Burman).
Song: Phoolon ka taron ka subka kehna hai, ek hazaron main

When we lived in Delhi, right next to India Gate, we used to watch the Republic Day rehearsals and listen to the songs, and this song used to be played:
Watan ki raah mein watan ke naujawan shaheed ho … Rafi
I just discovered that this song is from the movie Shaheed, so here’s my next farmaish!

We have been getting “Rajesh Roshan” songs in the blog these days. Let me follow the trend.
Requesting songs from a movie for which “Rajesh Roshan” got his first “Best Music Director” Filmfare award. This was also his second film (after “Kuwaara Baap” : famous song “Saj rahi gali meri maan” and already requested). Looks like public was kind to his style of music and he did better initially than papa Roshan 🙂
Anyway, songs are following (& there are no sabaashi for guessing the movie name … it’s “every1knows.com” .. ) 😉
1: Bhool gaya sub kuch yaad nahin abb kuch
2: My heart is beating keeps on repeating
3: Dil kya kare jab kissi-se kissi-ko pyaar ho jaaye

Thanks for THIS request. Very nice song. Lyrics are simple (unlike other Sahir gem). And, Asha voice is just perfect for mood of the song. “Dharamputra” is full of nice songs (Magic of Sahir & N. Datta).
I also requested “Mere dilbar mujh par” from same movie (post 66 in this section, and it’s already in the blog. Thanks atul). Let me request more from same movie. 🙂

Nice Qawaali from another forgotten movie.
Song: Na yeh ranjo alam hote
Movie: Mehndi Lagi Mere Haath
Year: 1962
Movie is forgotten, but individuals involved in the movie stayed for long long long time, and became very popular movie personalities ……. like Suraj Prakash (director), Shashi Kapoor, Nanda, Kalyanji Anandji, Anand Bakshi.
And, few years later same team gave a big blockbusters “Jab Jab Phool Khile” that changed everything.

Missing “Maaya” (Year: 1961, MD: Salil Chaudhury) songs:
Lata/Dwijen – Phir ek baar kaho
Rafi – Zindagi hai kya sun meri jaan
Rafi – Sanam tu chal diya rasta
Asha – Jaadu dale hai machal

Here are the details ….
1) Excellent Lata & Hemant like voice (of Dwijen Mukherjee) duet
2) Song about life (& dil, nice talk and ice cream). Another excellent Rafi solo.
3) Typical Majrooh style of lyrics in Rafi voice. Nice song picturized on Agha/Helen and most probably got overshadowed by other popular songs in the movie.
4) Asha solo – don’t remember picturaization
And “aye dil kahan teri manzil” is also in Lata voice. Better than Hemant Kumar like male voice version (of Dwijen Mukherjee).

Once upon a time (AD 1959, and unlike others I am not going to say “ohhh that was 51 years earlier” 🙂 ), Subodh Mukherji decided to cast (again) Dev Anand (this time with Mala Sinha). Subodh Mukherji & Dev Anand had worked together earlier in Munimji and Paying Guest. Shakar Jaikishan & Shailendra were hired for music (second time for Dev Anand after “Patita” 1953). But, in 1959 it was different, SJ used “Mohd. Rafi” as male voice (unlike Talat & Hemant Da in “Patita”). Results were magical and some of those songs are shining like a star(s) in this blog. Enjoy.
Few missing songs from “Love Marriage”:
1) Song: Dil se dil takraaye
Singer: Geeta Dutt & M. Rafi
Note: Modern (and could be title be) song of the movie. Helen dancing on Shankar Jaikishan tune (hey what more you need). One needs to see/listen it to appreciate (not so now) popular song.
2) Song: Kareeb aao na tadpao
Singer: Geeta Dutt
Note: Geeta singing SOLO for SJ is rare (like me typing in caps). Dev Anand came to meet lady with whom his elder brother is having extra martial affair. She wanted Dev Anand to start visiting her if he wants to save his brother married-life (& family name).
3) Song: ham jaan gaye sarkaar
Singer: Lata
Note: There is a funny scene before this song. Mala Sinha acts as an old women (actually as her own grand ma) and Dev Anand taking to her about possible marriage proposal.
