It was because of the Google logo that I became aware that it was ‘World Earth Day’ on 22 april 2016. The next day (23 april 2016) the same google had William Shakespeare on its logo. Our Maheshji had also shared a screen shot of the google page that morning on our WhatsApp group. And on closer research I found that it was the death anniversary of William Shakespeare on that day.

“Do Dooni Chaar”(1968) was one of several movies that was based on William Shakespeare’s “Comedy of Errors”. “Angoor”(1980) too was based on the same story.
“Do Dooni Chaar”(1968) was directed by Deboo sen for Bimal Roy Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Kishore Kumar, Tanuja, Asit Sen, Sudha Sharma, Surekha Pandit, Rashid Khan, Vinod Sharma, Ifthikar, Chandrima Bhaduri, Lata Arora, Bhola, baby Sonia (Neetu Singh) etc in it.

There are many flavors of ‘roothhnaa’ and ‘manaanna’ in Hindi films. There are many songs that we like, which are about one person, lady or the gentleman, one of whom is upset and offended about something, and then the other person will make an effort to placate the emotional storm, sing praises, make promises, make amends and try to get the communications back on track. But did I say, lady and gentleman. Well not always – there are songs that put people of many different relationships and genders and ages, into a song trying to set right the upset moods. I recall the wonderful kids song “Daadi Amma Daadi Amma Maan Jaao. . .” from ‘Gharaana’ (1961), in which two kids are trying to humor and bring laughter to the lips of their grandma, who is offended with the actions and deeds of the generation in between. And I am sure readers will add many more songs of such situations to this list.

Hawaaon pe likh do hawaaon ke naam

Wow! What an amazing song ! I have listened to this song in the past, but only in passing and without paying much attention. Now that I have listened to it and watched the picturisation, I am just floored.
